iEP-7040E vs iEP-7041E
iEP-7040E and iEP-7041E

While checking the datasheet of the product, I found that the company also has the iEP-7041E series of industrial IoT controllers with similar features. While the iEP-7041E series features the Intel Core Ultra 5 225H (14 cores, 1.70 GHz) SoC, the iEP-7040E series features the more powerful Intel Core Ultra 7 255H (16 cores, 2.00 GHz) SoC, but all other features stay the same.

The iEP-7040E series is available in multiple SKUs, each SKU is designed with different connectivity and I/O requirements. All of the SKUs feature Intel Core Ultra 255H or 225H processors, with different connectivity options such as WiFi, 4G LTE/5G, and differing LAN configurations (3 or 5 ports). The PoE SKU includes Power over Ethernet support, while the 8DIO SKU offers expanded digital I/O (8DI/8DO). Other SKUs feature a combination of WiFi and 5G capabilities, for various industrial applications.

fanless Industrial IoT Controller

The iEP-7040E comes with optional AC to DC adapters for different SKUs. The Basic, 5LAN, 5G and 8DIO SKUs use a 120W adapter with a 100-240V AC input and a 19V, 6.32A DC output. The PoE SKU, requiring higher power, includes a 330W adapter with a 100-240V AC input and a 24V, 13.75A DC output. In terms of software, ASRock industrial IoT controllers support Windows 11 and Linux, along with other downloadable resources available on the company’s download center page.

Previously we have written about similar fanless industrial IoT controllers including BIOSTAR MT-N97 and Cincoze DA-1200 fanless industrial embedded computer both powered by an entry-level Intel N97 CPU. We have also covered other Intel Core Ultra SBC and industrial PCs like the Jetway F35-MTU1, a 3.5-inch SBC that features an Intel Core Ultra 7 (Meteor Lake) SoC and Vecow ECX-4000 Intel Core Ultra 200S-powered fanless Edge AI embedded system.

At the time of writing, the iEP-7040E series Arrow Lake-H industrial IoT controllers are not available for purchase. More information can be found on the product page.
