Ultrathin Intel N100 mini PC

The fanless mini PC comes preloaded with an activated version of Windows 11 Pro. It also ships with a VESA Mount with screws, a user manual, and a power adapter.

All the information comes from Amazon, but the MeLE website has a product page for the Quieter DL too. However, it only offers an older Intel Celeron N5105 CPU as an option. The Quieter DL4G is listed with an Intel N100 CPU but comes with three external antennas for both WiFi and (I assume) 4G LTE cellular connectivity although the product page is not explicit about this.

The MeLE QuieterDL can be purchased on Amazon for $159.99 with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, $219.99 in 8GB/256GB configuration, and $249.99 with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. There’s no pricing information about the Quieter DL4G, possibly because it’s an ODM-only design.

  1. At this price I’m wondering if it can become a bit of an SBC killer. I mean, who wants to pay $100 for an Arm board without enclosure, low (if at all) NVME performance, often limited connectivity, without out-of-the-box support for a standard OS when targetting generic usages when for slightly more you can get something significantly more powerful that addresses the main criticisms often made against Arm SBCs. If you aim for cost cutting and power draw (and fun), Arm SBC often win. But if you aim for integration, ease of use, and standarization, this one very likely wins.

  2. In a very crowded market for N100, the use of DDR4 immediately puts it on the back foot and then you look at the price and see anther downside.

The one key advantage over most is hat it is fanless but we will have to see testing to see if the cooling solution is actually effective.

    1. Performance in this form factor will be lower than that of an equivalent actively-cooled system.

Even the thicker MINIX NEO Z100-0dB fanless mini PC is slower than similar systems with a fan, although it’s not too dramatic:

      1. We have the quieter3 (N5105) at work in the meeting room, it’s fine for videoconferencing. It can get hot when building stuff on it for a while but it’s no problem for just a video call.
