Reolink E1 Outdoor Pro 4K smart security camera supports WiFi 6 connectivity

Reolink E1 Outdoor Pro is a 4K smart security camera with PTZ and auto-tracking like the Reolink TrackMix, but instead of relying on PoE or WiFi 4/5, the camera comes with WiFi 6 connectivity for a faster and more stable network connection with less latency.

Most of the WiFi security cameras I’ve been using come with 2.4GHz WiFi 4, and I’ve found connectivity to the solar-powered Reolink security cameras I’ve been using to be somewhat unreliable with difficulty connecting to them through the mobile app, although uploads to the cloud don’t suffer from those issues. So I typically prefer PoE or 4G LTE security cameras since the connectivity is more stable, but Reolink E1 Outdoor Pro security camera’s WiFi 6 support could help depending on the environment.

The security camera can be controlled with the usual Reolink mobile app for Android or iOS and is also compatible with Reolink NVRs.  While some Reolink WiFi cameras support solar power, this is not the case for the first Reolink WiFi 6 security camera, and you’ll need to find a (12V?) power source. You’ll also need a WiFi 6 router to benefit from the new standard and opt for 5 GHz WiFi  if the camera is close enough for higher bitrates, or 2.4GHz WiFi for a longer range.

The Reolink E1 Outdoor Pro can be purchased online for $143.99 plus shipping. Note the camera is only available to customers in the US, Canada, and Mexico at this time, and users from other regions will be the camera as being “out of stock”. There aren’t that many WiFi 6 CCTV cameras for sale at this time, but another one that shows up in search results is a Lorex 4K security camera sold on Amazon for $179.99 with many of the same features as the Reolink model, including AI object detection, but without PTZ and auto-tracking.
