Pocket-sized Intel Pentium Silver N6000 computer

The manufacturer, Yingboda Intelligent Technology, says the S3 mini PC can support Windows10, Windows 11, as well as Ubuntu 20.04 and newer, but does not say whether the OS can be selected at the time of order.

If the device and specifications look similar, it’s because the MOREFINE M6 mini PC has the exact same design, but use an Intel Celeron N5105 quad-core Jasper Lake processor, instead of the Pentium Silver N6000 in DingDian S3, and the company even forgot to change M6 to S3 once in the product description.

You’d think that a Pentium N6000 would be faster than a Celeron N5105 from the same Jasper Lake family, but as noted by Liliputing, the Pentium Silver N6000 is a 6W quad-core processor @ 1.1 GHz / 3.3 GHz (Turbo), while the Celeron N5105 is a 10W quad-core processor with a 2.0GHz base frequency and 2.9GHz turbo frequency, so it should perform slightly better than the Pentium SoC.

DingDian S3 pocket-sized Pentium N6000 mini PC has recently been launched on Kickstarter with a $5,000 goal. Rewards start at $249 for the super early bird model with 16GB RAM and 128GB storage, and go up to $389 with a 1TB SSD.  Shipping adds $20 to the total, and deliveies are expected to start in June 2022.

ROCK 5 ITX RK3588 mini-ITX motherboard

  1. For a lower end intel box, in comparison to others the specs are impressive. Comms are up to date, decent storage options and good external ports. All in a small box too. Would have been nice to see HDMI 2.1. I just hope that the cooling is sufficient.

  2. Nice mini-pc. Good heat dissipation (I prefer passive), akin to Intel NUC. Upgradeable storage. 10nm. And cheaper than most RK3588 board.

But beware of the true TDP. Expect something like ~25watt.

    1. 25 Watts should be the power consumption of the full system under load rather than the processor’s TDP.

      1. I ordered one of these mini PC from online shopping, but the f****** seller inadvertently gave me a vacuum equipment instead.

    2. Intel’s TDP tends to be rather honest on those low-end devices…

But in the end they’ll consume as much power as the motherboard is willing to deliver. With desktop CPUs the motherboards tend to have high powerlimits, so TDP will be overshot.

I doubt this device will sustain over 10W unless you do something weird with it. Or if the motherboard settings default to much higher (which more often than not is a luxury)

  3. Officials have released production videos,Small Batch Production and Function Test,Everything is on schedule, I believe it will be shipped soon!
