Data acquisition SBC offers PCIe/104 and mPCIe expansions

DIamond Systems’ Saturn is a rugged Intel Atom x5-E3940 powered SBC with an industrial analog and digital data acquisition subsystem, as well as PCIe/104 OneBank and mini PCIe sockets for I/O expansion.

The Saturn SBC is also equipped with either 4GB non-ECC or 8GB ECC RAM, SATA, two Gigabit Ethernet networking interfaces, two HDMI video outputs, multiple USB and serial interfaces, and more… most available through positive latching connectors that comply with the PCIe/104 standard, which also allows for stacking multiple expansion boards through the PCIe/104 Onebank connectors.

The board is rugged with a “50% thicker PCB”, which probably means 2.4mm thick, and latching connectors in order to increase resistance to shock and vibration. A bottom-side heat spreader with an integrated thermal pad provides cooling and mounting for the board.

Diamond Systems provides BSPs with Windows 10 64-bit and Linux 64-bit operating systems, as well as Universal Driver programming and autocalibration for the data acquisition SBC. The company also offers a kit to quickly get started with the Saturn SBC, a cable kit that allows keyboard, mouse, display, or other peripherals connections, and a programmed 64GB flash drive with Windows 10 or Linux, plus a backup USB memory device. The Linux kit is said to include all the tools needed to rebuild the OS, while the Windows 10 version of the kit comes with a runtime license.
