iWave Systems already provided some Linux-based vehicle diagnostic systems such as their NXP i.MX 7 powered OBD-II dongle with 4G LTE and GPS. But their latest model, the iW-Rainbow-G41 telematics gateway, goes a step further with an NXP i.MX 8 processor controlling four CAN Bus interfaces, and offering both wired (RS232/RS485, automotive Ethernet) and wireless (cellular, Wifi, Bluetooth) connectivity options.

The system runs Linux 5.4.70, and supports ISO 15765-4 CAN, ISO 11898, CANopen, and CIA 447 protocol stacks. iWave Systems says the gateway is suitable for applications ranging from heavy-duty trucks, vessels, to industrial machinery and passenger cars with the solution gathering information such as location, working duration, engine performance, and engine parameters for preventive maintenance of such vehicles.
iWave Systems also mentions the telematics gateway complies with the J1939 protocol used in heavy-duty vehicles and commercial trucks that was standardized by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), and now used worldwide. The standard includes the digital annex (DA) defining thousands of signals transmissible through the CAN bus, a subset of which are for EV-specific signals such as high voltage, battery state of charge, vehicle charging status, and more.
The iW-Rainbow-G41 gateway appears to be available now with more information on the product page, where pricing can also be requested for companies interested in purchasing in quantities.

It might be possible to buy a sample for evaluation, but you’d still have to mention the expected volume and schedule.
they will sell you in small quantities like 10, with the expectation that you would go on to buy 1000’s.
