DFI RNO171 SBCDFI says the board can run Microsoft Windows 10 and Linux. Target applications are not listed but should include embedded, industrial, and edge applications benefiting from high-end multimedia capabilities in retail, automation, automotive, entertainment, etc…

While DFI RNO171 is not the first Ryzen V2000 mini-ITX motherboard with quad-display we’ve seen so far, that’s the first one to do so via four DisplayPort connectors, as for instance, ASRock 4X4-V2000M and 4X4-V2000V mini-ITX motherboards do so using one HDMI 2.0 port, one DisplayPort connector, and two USB-C ports with DisplayPort Alt mode.

DFI’s Ryzen V2000 motherboard may not be available just yet, as the product page still shows the information is preliminary. RNO171 board also appears to be an update the the company’s earlier GH171 mini-ITX motherboard featuring AMD Ryzen Embedded R1000/V1000 processor.

  1. That is a damn good board, hope to get one these one day. With the PCIe x16 slot it’s gonna be very useful!

  2. Things to know:

    1. It will cost you $500++ depending on selected CPU
    2. If 15W is the requirement, yes it is a good deal. I use a GH171 and DFI repaired it for free while under guaranty (dead component). So service is pretty good. It might be the only time in my life I’ve got a mobo repaired instead of fully replaced. They actually removed the component and soldered a new one.
    3. Serial Ports, Watch Dog, Auto-boot on power, 4 displays, etc: industrial board for signage, booth, medical and so on.
    4. The embedded CPU are inherently less performing than the APU. If your goal is to set up a home, SOHO, start-up server where you don’t care about graphics you’ll be better served with a regular Mini-ITX AM4 and a 65W APU, still keeping the PCIe Gen 3 x16 (probably x8 signal though) for 10GbE+ NIC or RAID card. My GH171 talks at 20GbE IPoIB.
    5. Being an industrial board, the distributor may ask you a corporate ID for their paperwork but it is easy and OK to buy it as an individual. After asking my boss, I just used my employer corporate ID. Usually these boards are sold by the dozens, hundreds or more with a significant discount. As an individual buying one unit, you pay full price. In the current inflationary market and unobtanium consumer hardware that might not matter though 🙂 and you get a stellar customer service.
