Dual Ethernet SigmaStar SSD201/SSD202 SBC supports 4-inch or 7-inch displays

SigmaStar SSD201/SSD202 are low-cost, highly integrated SoC’s with a dual Cortex-A7 processor, 64MB to 128MB on-chip RAM designed for Full HD smart displays, but we’ve also found SSD201 in a 4G LTE industrial gateway.

There’s now a different type of board based on the SigmaStar processors with Wireless Tag/Industio IDO-SBC2D06-V1B-12W and IDO-SBC2D06-V1B-22W  SBC’s powered respectively by SSD201 and SSD202, and both equipped with dual Ethernet and a connector for a 4-inch or 7-inch display.

Dual Ethernet SBC with displaySpecifications:

  • System-on-Module (one or the other)
    • IDO-SBC2D06-V1B-12W SBC – IDO-SOM2D01  module with SigmaStar SSD201 dual-core Cortex-A7 processor @ 1.2 GHz with 2D GPU, 64MB DDR2,  2Gbit SPI NAND flash
    • IDO-SBC2D06-V1B-22W SBC – IDO-SOM2D01 module with SigmaStar SSD202 dual-core Cortex-A7 processor @ 1.2 GHz with 2D GPU, 128MB DDR3,  2Gbit SPI NAND flash

SSD201 SBCWireless Tag did not reply to our email asking for additional information in time for the publication of this article, so all details come from the text and photos from Taobao, where the boards are sold for 170 and 180 RMB ($26 and $27.6 US) respectively.

The SBC should run Linux with an SDK from the company, but as noted in previous SigmaStar SSD20x product news, Daniel Palmer (and maybe others?) is/are working on mainline Linux, and the aforementioned industrial gateway could boot with mainline Linux last January. The SSW101B WiFi module code can also be found on Github.

The single board computer should be suitable for intelligent controllers and IoT gateways where dual Ethernet, WiFi and a human machine interface are required.

  1. Unrelated, but the popup ads are really annoying and I’d rather not start using an adblocker on your site.

    1. I’ve already contacted the company handling this. It should be removed today or tomorrow.

  2. While trying to imagine what size the board would be with the SoC directly soldered on it and without the 40-pin header, I figured that it would look like a GL-iNet device, and am still wondering if Alfie is aware of these SoCs which could allow them to build efficient and very inexpensive gateways. /me going to ping him 🙂

      1. Yes I noticed this one the other day, it’s impressive. It’s really too small for me to solder, I think the capacitors around the SoC are 0201 🙂

        1. Yeah. I can imagine soldering that by hand would result in a few hours of swearing and then it living in a box for a few years waiting to be finished. 🙂

  3. Just got an answer from wireless tag

Yes This is new version of dual-ethernet ports evaluation board for IDO-SOM2D01/02 modules released this month. We already have samples available.
But as you known well, Many china based company will offer priority of Chinese version doc and then english version.

But We already expedite relative english Doc and will have it available this week. I will share to you ASAP.

We don’t have plan to sell it on aliexpress, Our official oversea selling channels is on alibaba
