Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 (SXR2130P) is the latest and most powerful virtual & extended reality processor from the company and Facebook recently announced it would be found in their Oculus Quest 2 standalone VR headset.
But it now looks like the processor will be used well beyond virtual reality applications as Lantronix has unveiled a Snapdragon XR2 SoM with Open-Q 865XR system-on-module designed for AI boxes, video conference systems, multi-camera systems, machine vision platforms, advanced high-resolution multi-display systems, medical imaging, and handheld data collectors.

Snapdragon XR2 AI Engine is said to provide twice the performance of the previous generation with up to 15 TOPS (trillion operations per second), and the company provides an Android 10 BSP for the module and notes that “all hardware features may not be supported by SW”.

To make evaluation easier, and allow their customers to start software development as soon as possible, Lantronix also provides the Open-Q 865XR SOM Development Kit comprise of the Snapdragon XR2 SoM and a mini-ITX carrier board with the following key features:

Both the module and development kit are available now with the 6GB/64GB version of Open-Q 865XR SoM going for $445 on Intrinsyc online store, while the mini-ITX development kit sells for $995 with the CPU module, carrier board, power supply, and other accessories, but not the LCD and camera which are sold separately.
