OnLogic Introduces Fanless Apollo Lake Thin Clients Running IGEL Edge OS

OnLogic has launched its first two offerings as part of the new IGEL Ready program with IGL200 and IGL300 fanless thin clients powered by various Intel Apollo Lake processors.

IGEL Edge OS enables the devices to be used for distributed computing, virtualization, and thin clients, and OnLogic thin clients target users in the manufacturing, energy, automation, and industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) sectors.

IGL300 Rugged Fanless Thin ClientAgain, the company offers DIN-mount, VESA-mount, and Wall-mount options for the device. Unsurprisingly, IGL300 is also based on an existing hardware platform namely OnLogic Karbon-300.

IGEL Platform

IGEL OS

Since the hardware was built in 2018, the main part of the announcement is about IGEL’s Linux based operating system that coupled with a scalable and easy to use management platform allows secure access to cloud workspaces.

This type of virtualized computing enables centralized management of applications, permissions and updates. OnLogic IGEL Ready hardware enhances the advantages of distributed computing by pairing IGEL’s OS with OnLogic thin client endpoints designed to resist damage due to extreme temperatures, airborne contaminants, vibration or impact forces.

When integrated on OnLogic hardware, the IGEL platform is better equipped to function in rugged, harsh environments like a factory floor or a utility-scale wind turbine.

In a nutshell that means IGL200 and IGL300 thin clients benefit from the ruggedness of OnLogic hardware, and the flexibility of IGEL platform that integrates with Microsoft, Citrix, Zoom, etc… for a total of over 90 technologies.

OnLogic IGL200 and IGL300 thin clients pricing start at respectively $372 and $815. You’ll find further details on OnLogic and EGIL websites.
