At the end of Last year, we covered Banana Pi BPI-F2S Industrial SBC powered by Sunplus SP7021 “Plus1” SoC with four Cortex-A7 core, an Arm A926 microprocessor, an 8051 core, as well as 128MB to 512MB built-in DDR3 RAM.
The company has now unveiled Banana Pi BPI-F2P with the same processor and many of the same features, but with the addition of PoE support on one of the Fast Ethernet ports, as well as an RS-232 DB9 connector, and RS-485 terminal blocks. The expansion connector for an FPGA board found in BPI-F2S is however gone.
Banana Pi BPI-F2P specifications:
- SoC – Sunplus SP7021 “Plus1” with a quad-core Cortex-A7 processor @ 1.0 GHz, one Arm A926 microprocessor, an 8051 core to handle I/Os, and 128MB or 512MB DDR3 DRAM.
- Storage – 8GB eMMC flash, microSD card slot
- Video Output – HDMI 1.4 output
- Camera I/F – MIPI CSI connector
- Connectivity – 2x 10/100M Ethernet ports, including one with optional PoE support
- USB – 2x USB 2.0 host ports, 1x micro USB port, 2x USB 2.0 interfaces via header
- Serial – RS-232 DB9 connector, RS-485 via 6-pin terminal block
- Expansion – 40-pin GPIO header compatible with Raspberry Pi header
- Debugging – 3-pin header for UART console, SWD ICE port
- Security – TPM 2.0 via ST33TPH2EI2C secure element
- Misc – Power switch, reset button, boot selection dip switch, RTC + CR1220 battery slot
- Power Supply
- 12V DC via power barrel jack
- Optional 12V PoE
- 7.4V Lithium battery connector
- Dimensions – 130x85mm
- Temperature Range – -40C ~ +85°C
Smaller changes include support for powering the board with 7.4V lithium battery, RTC with a CR1220 battery, and a USB header. Software support is basically the same as for BPI-F2S with Linux 4.19.37 and the Yocto Project support (See Github here and there), and besides Debian 10 and Fedora 31 Mate, the company also added links to Ubuntu 18.04, Kali Linux 2019.4, CentOS KDE, and Mozilla IoT RPi gateway firmware images to the Wiki.
Banana Pi BPI-F2P is not available for sale on Aliexpress just yet, but for reference, the earlier Banana Pi BPI-F2S is still sold for $58 plus shipping on SinoVoIP Aliexpress store, and I’d expect the new BPI-F2P board to sell for a similar price. Adding PoE should cost around $5 to $10 based on the existing PoE modules sold by the company.
