Amlogic S922X Digital Signage Board Comes with HDMI, LVDS, V-by-One, and eDP Video Interfaces

Thanks to its 4K video playback and output capability and high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, USB 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet, Amlogic S922X is a suitable processor for 4K digital signage players.

One way is to get a TV box optimized for signage applications such as Rikomagic MK25, but if you want to integrate a board into your own display, XYT-6689 SBC may be an interesting option with LVDS, V-by-One and eDP (embedded DisplayPort) display interfaces, as well as many other features.

ONENUTS S922X BoardThe “strand” and “T112 burner” headers come with Rx, Tx and GND pins. But the company confirmed the board can be connected to yet-to-be-announced Texas Instruments T112 chip via V-by-One interface (LVDS successor), so the way I understand it is that T112 firmware may be upgradeable via the 4-pin “T112 burner” header. Shenzhen Tomato provided an extract from the schematics to show how the connection works.

V-By-One

We can see some other chips used in the design including Lontium Semi LT86102SX 1:2 HDMI/DVI splitter that appears to feed video signals to HDMI and LVDS, and LT8911EXB MIPI DSI to eDP controller.

The board supports Android 9.0 operating system. While it has primarily been designed for digital signage applications, it could also be integrated into other products and applications including industrial automation terminals, computer vision algorithms, virtual reality systems, game/entertainment equipment, and high-performance face recognition applications in the fields of finance, advertising, security, transportation, public transportation, etc…

XYT-6689 appears to be a white-brand board, but at the time of writing, I could only find it on Shenzhen Tomato website, and it’s available now, but the company does not provide public prices because clients usually ask for custom orders.

  1. There needs to be more S905X3 SoC dev boards. More people have commented that some well designed S905X3 Android boxes are running console emulation games just as well as the Rpi Tart 4 .

Thats real world use not gestimate numbers .

    1. Apple and Orange.
      + Raspberry Pi 4:
      – more compatible with linux (!important).
      – 28nm node (!important).
      – 4x A72 big core.
      + s905x3
      – more compatible with android (!important).
      – ~12nm node (!important)
      – 4x A55 LITTLE core. <- Good thermal

Would be better if you compare s905x3 with, say, odroid N2 (cause N2 have good android support).

OOT: If only s905x3 have GPU accell in linux, I'm sold!
