Low cost Allwinner H6 TV boxes are now a thing, after the $40 EACHLINK H6 Mini TV box we covered last month, here’s another model slightly more expensive but with 4GB RAM instead of 3GB, and dual band WiFi. It does however drops the AV port found in EACHLINK model.
Tanix TX6 can now be found on GearBest or Banggood for $42.99 and up.

It also turns out GS12 Amlogic S905X2 TV box is not the only low cost box with 2T2R WiFi, as Tanix TX6 also supports 2×2 MIMO WiFi using both an internal antenna and an external antenna.
The device runs Android 7.1 with ALICE UX, and ships with an IR remote control, an HDMI cable, a power adapter, and a user manual.
If you don’t need the (likely) better WiFi connectivity and extra RAM, EACHLINK H6 Mini is back at $39.99 as part of the on-going 11.11 promotions.

The Allwinner H6 SoC can only access 3GiB of DRAM at one point in time, because the internal bus has only 32 address bits and the lower GiB is reserved for MMIO. The 3GiB systems typically come with 4GiB of actual DRAM, but leave the upper GiB unused. So advertising 4 GiB is a bit cheeky.
Now for $39,99 with the code “GBCNTX6”.
Is it possible to run linux (armbian) on it?
Doesn’t look so good: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/5226-h6-boards-orange-pi-one-plus-orange-pi-3-plus-and-pine-h64/?page=6
Don’t know about this exact model, but I managed to boot 4.20-rc1 on the Eachlink H6 Mini with some Ubuntu 18.04 rootfs on Sunday. It’s mostly MMC and serial for now, but since H6 support for USB, Ethernet and HDMI is already in linux-next, I don’t see big showstoppers. The Eachlink box was pretty open (easy FEL or SD boot, rooted Android), I would guess this one isn’t so different from this.
