Meet EWEAT R11, the $1,200 High-End 4K Media Player

A few months ago, Zidoo released two high-end 4K media players based on Realtek RTD1296DD processor with Zidoo X20 going for around $500, and Zidoo X20 Pro for about $865. Those are quite expensive with dual hard drive support, large metal case, XLR connectors, and high-end audio chips.

EWEAT has upped the ante with their R11 model, also based on Realtek RTD1295DD SoC instead, and going for about $1,200 on Aliexpress, and also listed on Amazon US but with no price at the time of writing.  [Update: GeekBuying has it for $699.99 shipped]. So let’s see what it has to offer.

The device runs Android 6.0.1, and by default ships with an IR remote control, a
HDMI cable, a power adapter,  a warranty card, and a quick install guide. An optional 2.4G air mouse may be included with the media player.

As far as I understand what makes this type of media player expensive is really all the audio circuitry, with for example the audio DAC selling for around $100 itself. Then you add the hard drive bay mechanism, the large aluminum case, the other electronics parts, and the fact that this will be a niche product for audiophiles (i.e. a low volume product), and price goes up to several hundreds dollars, and in this case over $1,000.
