Qualcomm has announced three new snapdragon mobile platforms for high- and mid-tiers mobile devices with Snapdragon 429, Snapdragon 439, and Snapdragon 632 processors.
The new chips will bring higher performance, better battery life, more efficient designs, improved graphics and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities into these classes of devices.
Snapdragon 429 & 439
Designed for mid-range smartphones, both Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 429 processors are pin-to-pin compatible, equipped with artificial intelligence capabilities, X6 LTE modem, and deliver up to 25% performance increase over previous generation processor, respectively Snapdragon 430 and Snapdragon 425 that enhance the camera, voice, and security experience.
Snapdragon 439 however features an octa-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at up to 1.95 GHz coupled with an Adreno 505 GPU delivering up to 20% faster graphics rendering compared to SDM430, while the Snapdragon 429 comes with a quad core Cortex A53 processor and an Adreno 504 GPU yielding up to 50% improvement in graphics rendering over Snapdragon 425. There are also some differences with regards to camera and display support with Snapdragon 439 supporting 21MP single-camera and 8+8MP dual-cameras and FHD+ displays, while the Snapdragon 429 includes support for 16MP single-camera and 8+8MP dual-cameras, as well as HD+ display.
Snapdragon 632
The Snapdragon 632 is designed for higher-end – yet cost effective – handsets with support for 4K video playback and capture, mainstream gaming, artificial intelligence, and fast LTE speeds thanks to Snapdragon X9 modem supporting carrier aggregation. Just like SDM429 and SDM439, Snapdragon 632 is manufactured using 12nm FinFET process technology, which allows for 40% higher performance compared to Snapdragon 626. The mobile platform comes with 8 Kryo 250 CPU core clocked at up to 1.8 GHz, an Adreno 506 GPU, as well as support for 24MP single camera, 13+13MP dual camera, and FHD+ displays.
All three processors also offers good support for wireless connectivity thanks to 802.11ac WiFi with MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0 + BLE, and Qualcomm location technology.
