I tried a few of these on Linaro Debian earlier in the year but they would crash just trying to compile things, completely unreliable. Others were blaming the general instability of Linux/ARM64.
I wonder if things improved… they’re very nice boards in all other respects.
For the 96boards, it is not possible to buy it. I have a button “Retired”.
Sold out now, that didn’t last long.
I didn’t make it. That’s bad! Both are sold out :/
@JM
“The general instability of Linux/ARM64” is an excuse worthy of Trump’s repertoire. I’m running two Linux/ARM64 devices 24/7 – a MediaTek and a Rockchip, both used as general-purpose boxes, running ARM64 toolchains. The only times when my builds crash is when they run out of virtual memory.
@blu
Thanks, so I guess the problem was really specific to the Linaro builds? Or are you running Linaro on those too?
@JM
I’m not running Linaro on those. The RK runs a custom 3.10 kernel, and the MT runs a stock Ubuntu Touch with another custom 3.10 aarch64 kernel.
And it’s gone …
I know you’re trying to do a nice thing but in a way this is frustrating , very frustrating …

@noone
Haha, thanks for the tip. I’m actually going to get one for a girl that’s a big Arduino fan.

@Marius
man, I didn’t understand I was witnessing the latest unit being sold while I was filling my cart. First Guitar became gray. I thought it was a qty per user limit. Then hikey became gray. Then I realized.
@Pepe
And they were asking 4EUR for the shipping to Belgium, plus an extra 9EUR for the packaging.
Just noticed that there’s stock available for HiKey boards (Qty: 7, as at 11:00am, China time).
Can confirm @sk, placed an order for 3, wait and see.
@agumonkey
Again I missed that? Nooooooo!
Sorry for you. Most of the time I miss them. For once I was lucky.
@cnx the package arrived today, gonna test them soon. Thanks for the article.
