Based on the number of comments I get daily on my review of Videostrong K1 Plus T2 S2 Android TV box, the device is rather popular thanks to its dual DVB-T2/T2C and DVB-S2/S tuner, its low price, and OpenELEC community support. However, some people are possibly affected by the mere 1GB RAM in the system, with some apps being killed during use due to lack of memory. One solution is to purchase WeTek Play 2, but at $120 it’s in a different price range, and does not offer a dual tuner solution. But Videostrong has recently launched their KII Pro DVB T2+S2 model based on K1 Plus DVB T2+S2, but with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, and 802.11ac WiFi.

K2 Pro runs Android 5.1.1 and comes with the same DTV app installed on K1 Plus S2 T2 with channel scanning, EPG, channel recording and CCCAM/NEWCAMD support. People who require AC3 / Dolby D 5.1 in some countries will have the same issue as on K1 Plus T2 S2 because the Dolby license is still missing, and a device with Amlogic S905-H is required, unless maybe if you use OpenELEC (TBC) instead of Android.
The box is currently sold on Aliexpress for $82.69 shipped, and GeekBuying for $79.99. It’s also sold under the Acemax brand for about the same price, but it’s unclear whether the WiFi module is the same since they only mention dual band WiFi. Yes, that’s basically what I wrote. Except WeTek does not have a newer CPU, but the H version of the CPU with DTS/Dolby licenses.
When I was interested in broadcast TV, my theory was always to have a box like this streaming the selected channels to other viewing devices around the home. Has any serious attention been given to making such a thing? From what I have seen, you have to use their Android app to choose the channel, and watch it locally (via HDMI).

Their answer “Our company is not belong Dolby DTS membership .So can’t make it .” So I think there’s a significant cost to having DTS and Dolby license, which explains why most don’t use S905-H/S912-H. If you need it, you’d have to go with WeTek, and maybe others, but I can’t think of any other names right now.

I’m not sure it’s supported in the Android firmware in VideoStrong boxes. If you install OpenELEC instead, you should be able to use Tvheadend to stream videos on your network.

Some people also recommend CESBO server, but I think I tried once and was confused by the setup instructions.
Clicking on your link to Videostrong I did not see the KII Pro, (think their site could be organised better) but in the group ‘Hybrid TV box’ saw the ‘KB4’ which has ‘Octo-Core 64-bit Cortex-A53’ which I assume is a S912. Also has Gigabit, 2GB DDR3, and a more interesting global selection of TV tuner standards: ‘DVB：DVB T2/DVB S2/ISDB-T /ATSC /DTMB/DVBC(Optional)’. Although the photo shows an external Antenna, in typical style they forget to list which Wireless standards are supported, or even USB.
Nearest I saw to your ‘KII Pro’ was the ‘KI Plus’ (in the Hybrid TV box group) which also had ISDB-T in the more global list of TV Tuners.
The Videostrong photos show the 2 TV Antenna sockets fixed into the left end of the backpanel. I recently saw another style, forget if on this site, where the 2 TV Antenna sockets, also on the left, but fixed onto a separate backpanel, which I assume is attached to the Tuner card, allowing for easier exchange of Tuner card types.
Do these plugin Tuner cards conform to a standard so interchangeable between different TV Box brands ?

Only reason I mentioned VLC VideoLAN was @Rogan Dawes asked if these boxes can stream the output (of the TV Tuner & other playing media) to other devices around the house.
I quickly rescanned your article last October, and see the box had a miserable 1.24 MB/s WiFi, and you had probs running the October 2015 version of Android VLC. Reason I directed the post to you, was because I read quite recently of a ‘new’ VLC for Android. Perhaps the new version will perform better on TV boxes ?

You are right. Dtv supports cccam an newcamd but no oscam. Openelec supports all of it.

None of this boxes support OSCam as none of them have dvb-api support. Only box on market so far on Android and DVB to support dvbapi is Wetek
The K1 plus and K2 pro just have one tuner!!
It is dvb-c/t/s, but the same time just can work only one, do no dvb-t and and dvb-s tuner.

I like the Stock one too, but the TV function of the DTV app. is horribel 🙁 i used an Amiko Alien 2+ before, but it was miles better. CCCAM is breaking often for me also, it’s working, but sometimes it stops for 3-9sec. the S2 tuner is also not the best. Is there any special tool (falsher ect.) ? I’m searching for a channel editor to edit my channels, favorites i found your topic for the KI Plus editor but unfortunately i don’t find that files in the system. where can i find this or how is it possible to customize it? This DTV app is made by the Videostorng team or who because i want to send him some feedback to make some changes/improvements whit it or if i have a driver to make it alive @ KODI then it will good also (whit CCCAMD/NEWCAMD) of course, because i use this features too.

Jaja, tudom, közben kipróbáltam, most hogy feltettem az OTA frissítést, már aktív az exportálás/inportálás a DTV app.-ban, eddig nem ment, lövésem nincs miért… Már tudok csatorna listát szerkeszteni.
A dulaBoot-tól félek, mert van már pár Tégla amiről olvastam, bár lehet ACEMAX file-jai ehhez is jók. Egyenlőre félek tőle… KODI-hoz kellene valami driver ami kezeli a tunert, vagy valami app. ami kezeli a tunert, ha nincs akkor kénytelen leszek kivárni az OpenElec / Libreelec megoldásokat. Bosszantó hogy ami ebben van DTV app az elég butácska.

Yes, i know, i have try out this Editor after the OTA update, because before this in the DTV app. the export/import was not available, it was grey, i don’t know why… Now i can edit the channels.
I’m afraid for the DualBoot, because i have read about some bricked K2’s, maybe ACEMAX’s files could be good for this device… I need some drivers for the tuner because i want to use it under KODI or some app. what can handle the tuner, if it’s not available then i should wait for the OőenElec / Libreeelec working solution for K2. This DTV app is not so clever.

Most probably not, just like for K1 Plus version. I think you need to wait for Amlogic S905D TV boxes to get dual tuner version allowing to watch and record different channels at the same time.

Were you able to get cccam working…same problem here too. Consensus seems to be that Videostrong supplied units don’t work on Cccam, but Acemax do. Is the Acemax software able to make the Videostrong unit work?

Kodi bypasses the license, handle downmixing to stereo by software.
Before apps like MX Player also implemented Dolby Digital downmixing on any devices, but the license holders made them remove support.
Libreelec , DD+ passthrough works, wifi works, dvbs tuners not work
I understand this unit doesn’t support AC3 /dolby. I have an amp that does (Onkyo) and all sound goes through it. All my units (Dreambox, Bluray players etc) are connected to the amplifier. Will I get AC3 and 5.1 with this setup or will all sound from K2 Pro be muted? Will feed through HDMI cable.

Signal level is very informative value and hard to compare between different boxes. Most important is SNR. 50% is enough for HD channels. Most important parts are satellite dish and LNB. Tuner can hardly improve bad signal. If u have low signal on tuner u have to use LNB with higher gain.

My K2pro stil with LE 7.0.2.004.1. The dvbs2 and dvbt2 are working successfully now but need to tune setting the tuner. For dvbt2, error exist many time “DVB-T #0 – poll TIMEOUT” and lastly the tuner successfully scan the channel. For dvbs2, the tuner successfully scan for certain satellite. The tuner fail to scan certain satellite, depends on TP frequencies.
make sure power save selected for dvbs2 dvbt2. when the satellite channel turn on, to choose terrestrial T2 channel make sure stop (STOP button on RC) the satellite channel first before turn on T2 channel.

I made a small video showing AC3 on DTV. When I first unpacked the box I had no talk in DTV with AC3 (it use to come from center speaker as you probably know) but only surround effects. After trying different settings I got sound in all speakers. Sound quality is good but I feel the sound may not be 100% in sync with the picture. It isn’t as bad as it looks from the video I made (it was made with Canon EOS 600 camera which is great for photographs but not as good with video).

Hmm. That’s odd.. You are using PCM output, and AC3 appears to be working. The DTV app shows stereo though, while the audio track is named “swe (AC3)”. Videostrong told me they would not support AC3 because they are not a licensee.

The unit supports Video HD MPEG1/2/4,H.265/HEVC , HD AVC/VC-1,RM/RMVB,Xvid/DivX3/4/5/6 ,RealVideo8/9/10 and playes files AVI/RM/RMVB/TS/VOB/MKV/MOV/ISO/WMV/ASF/FLV/DAT/MPG/MPEG. Audio supported MP3/WMA/AAC/WAV/OGG/AC3/DDP/TrueHD/DTS/DTS/HD/FLAC/APE according to technical specifications where I bougt the unit (see post 70) . But your question – MKV with DTS and Dolby Audio, yes, I experienced it last weekend. 🙂

Is there any chance KII PRO update firmware to android 6 Marshmallow?
I have now tested DVB-S function of this receiver. AC3 / Dolby digital is supported in DVB-S aswell (in my box, not sure how others are). Since it is a 4K / UHD box I tried scan some 4K / UHD channels and I could watch these! I really didn’t expect this, it was nice bonus. I tried scan the channels with my Dreambox 800 HD too but got only audio then. I don’t have 4K / UHD tv, could only see the video downscaled to 1080p and it was blu-ray quality (normally satellite HD is not as good as blu-ray in detail). I wish the box would list the 4K / UHD channels as such but they are labeled HD in the channel list. Will test cccam and biss this weekend. I can make video of my finds if you want.

I tried diseqc 1.1 and I had no problems with my K2 Pro box. I have 16 LNB in my setup. I could watch satellite feeds at 10 degrees east without problems. No freezings here in my tuner. I had AC3 audio and it tuned in 4K channels aswell. Biss, Cccam and blind scan was nice bonus. Only thing I miss is support for 4:2:2 channels (mostly used in professional satellite feeds) and a better remote control.
‘Anotherone’ mentioned high temperature – I don’t know how he measured (with or without case?). 82 C does sound much. If I remember I can measure next time I watch 90 min movie
More memory means you can install more apps or record more before the memory runs out. K2 is definitely better than K1. Wait for K3..? sure why not. There may be a K4 later too, question is how long one should / can wait. 😉
80c it is easy for my kii box to have even in 720 kodi movie.
I measured with the case and “cpu temp” or a similar program, I do not remember exactly because I do not have now the box.
I am expecting a second box in 7-10 days so I will tried again.

Regarding tuner sensitivity I have made some more observations. I tried watch Manny Paquiao boxing sunday morning, satellite feed at 10 E satellite. Tuner received it nicely and accepted the biss key I had found on the net. I have a technomate receiver aswell and it couldn’t tune in the frequency properly. It found the channel but was too glitchy to watch, seemed it had identified the channel as 16psk when it in fact was 8psk. But on K2 box perfect.
I seem to have lost AC3 / DTS in kodi when watching mkv files. I have dropouts in the sound. Found a fix that addressed the problem which I think works if I use another app to play mediafiles. But in DTV app no changes, works good there (AC3).
The K2 box is smart little toy but somewhat buggy and not as userfriendly as I would like to recommend others (non-tech users) to buy it.

Because it will never offer anithing 🙁 that updater app can only used by offline update. Copy the downloaded file to USB or SD, put in, start the updater app select the destination folder and update… device will reboot in recovery and start the update. That’s it.

There was no standby mode in that model. Not sure whether they’ve implemented one in the new hardware.

Hi, I have installed Malysk 2.4 version to my KII Pro, but still no DTS/DTS-HD/Dolby-TrueHD support on HDMI. It send stereo PCM signal to receiver. Only AC3 is working good. Anyone had similar experience?

does anyone tested to connect an external HDD with EXT3/4 partition? Android mobiles are based on a Lunux, so possibly this is a way how to solve a FAT32/NTFS bug.

Amlogic Android 6.0 devices normally only support NTFS, exFAT, and FAT32 file systems. exFAT is normally quite slow when it comes to write speed (~6MB/s). EXT-3/4 is not supported on most Amlogic devices.
Videostrong seem to have a new model in plan, the kiii pro with the s912 and 3GB ram. Can’t find it at a retailer anywhere though, only some vague references for it on wholesale at alibaba. SSID is usually 0001 for satellite feeds… try it along with the frequency. You need to tie every key to respective frequency.
I myself got fed up with my K2 Pro box, re-installed WDTV box again. The K2 is good for digital tv mostly but very buggy when playing media files (mkv movies), often sound problems. Maybe I should try install alternative software. If anyone knows a good one let me know, must be English thx.

Is it possible to disable DVB-S2 tuner in K2-Pro box? I want to run DVB-T2 tuner by default after pressing DTV button on remote control. I do not use DVB-S2 tuner so choose DVB-S2 or DVB-T2 is not needed for me. Let me know if there is e.g. configuration file/jumper on PCB to disable DVB-S2 option.

If you take the custom firmware from Malaysk there is a feature:
Separate selection of firmware run – TV launcher, launcher Staff, DVB-S2, DVB-T2, DVB-S2 / DVB-T2. The first time you ask that run by default.

I have k2 pro , DTV app need some modifications , libreelec is very slow in scanning , and slow in previewing channels , i tried enigma2 in vitmod os v2 but it has many errors , what is the best rom or app to run dvbs2 ?
if we have speakers connected through the analog port we have loud hissing sounds when we turn off the box.

Does it only happen when you turn off for a very short time? Or does the sound continue all the time after you turn the box off? The former would probably require some software modifications, while the second can be mitigated by physically lowering the speakers volume, and increasing the TV box volume.
The sound is very very loud.
It is happening in 2 different kii boxes I bought within 3 months.

About the time it is continuously not only after turning off the box.
The only difference is after a while maybe is became a little softer but is really loud and you have to close the speakers or to unplug the 3.5 or to cut off the electricity in the kii.
This is happening with original firmware and with the other from Xda.

I am trying to update but I can not.
I have rge classic problem.. “security check failed”.
As I remember “cnxsoft” in “ki” thread told that the size in the Sd card is different after the unzip and this is the problem.
I do not remember how I had overcome this problem last time so I downloaded 2 times and I unzipped to the sd through the es file explorer, rar and through a windows pc without solving the problem.

Just bought the K II Pro from a popular retail site unfortunately I’m having issues with it.
Sometimes it boots quickly other times I have to wait a minute with no video before I see the AMLogic logo.
On powering down I have loud white noise coming out from the AV audio output.
DTV application has lip synching issues for both SD and HD content, DVB-S2 reception was poor when compare to my old Technomate 1000D, only a few transponders worked (tested with Hotbird 13E).
Will a firmware update resolve some of these issues?
Also where can I find latest updates they don’t appear to be available from the Videostrong website?
Forget it my box is going back I believe it’s defected as it’s now randomly hanging on video playback as well.

PS: I would just note: It is recommended setting for those who modified the device about the cooling. On the other are the brakes when the CPU temperature rises above 84 degrees (in the firmware is a program for measuring temperature).

This ad from the Chinese browser. When assembling the firmware it slips back (the only program that correctly romhelper collects firmware) trying to get rid of this browser – did not work (and internet disconnected, etc. – do not know where his program is inserted in the assembly of the firmware). Nothing critical. Simply browser with advertising. You can simply delete it after installing the firmware root explorer-om.
I did a check on version 3.5 with cm security antivirus. The “full keyboard app” was found as dangerous/trojan when activated. So I simply uninstalled the app. I didn’t use her anyway.

I own this KII Pro.
I have installed the latest version of stock firmware from 2016-12-19 (same issue with Malaysk firmware 2.8 and 3.5).
I have problem with the sound when I watch HD channels with the terrestrial tuner DVB-T2. The sound jumps every 30 seconds by issuing a “bleep”.
It is very unpleasant.
My system setting for audio is PCM because it is the only mode that allows to broadcast the sound of the French channels (EAC3).
I also turn on and off the antenna power and it does not change anything.
The channels signal is 99% and the quality is 99%.
Are you aware of this problem?
Is a future update planned to solve this problem?
Or is there an application that can solve this problem?

We are not the manufacturer of the device, just a blog reporting about various devices. VideoStrong made KII pro.
Anyway, I’m surprised you can get any audio at all from a stream with EAC3 audio using the DTV app, since the Dolby license is not included. This would only work using an AV receiver + HDMI or /SPDIF audio pass-through.

It works, I use HDMI for the picture on my TV Smasung and SPDIF for the audio on my Home Cinema Denon.
I only have this “bleep” issue (It drives me crazy…) and I don’t know how to fix it (but I haven’t audio/picture desynchronisation issue like other people).
I tried Viper4Android to maybe resolve the issue.
I can install the driver on first load. But when I reboot and I launch the app, the driver status is KO (all is NO)…
Any idea?

I tried with 3 versions of the firmware : Stock, Malaysk 2.8 and 3.5. The issue is the same.
Viper is included with Malaysk firmware but not busybox.
I read in the installation instruction of Viper that busybox is needed.
So I will try to install busybox and Viper.
I will tell you if it solves the issue.

I can’t install Viper4Android on stock fimrware 2016-12-19, on Malaysk 2.8 and 4.0…
I have an issue with the sound of the DVB-T2 tuner. The sound does a “ddzziiit” every minute (Am I the only one?).
It’s very unpleasant!
I hope that viper4android would fix this problem.
Is the sound very low in DTV application on DVB-T2 for you (in others applications it is normal)?
How to boost the volume only in DTV application (“hidden” setting or config file?)?
just leave poor android and switch to LibreELEC – whole DVB driver was re-writen by @alf and used opensource from CrazyCAT, now working DVB-S2 with all TP (including some problematic, and S2 – 4k) DVB-T and even DVB-C 😉

I switch to libreelec with my KII Pro.
The DVB-T2 tuner scans all my channels (in France).
I can watch TV with Kodi on libreelec!
BUT my sound issue is always here…
The sound does a “ddzziiiit” every minute!
Finaly, I think that is a hardware issue with the tuner.
I’m very desapointed…

Can you try to record live TV with the box, and then play it back on your computer? If it still happens it could be a tuner problem, if not, that’s likely another issue, maybe some interoperability issue between KII Pro and your “Home Cinema Denon”.

I recorded live TV and I play the file in VLC on my computer.
And the “ddzzziiiit” sound is recorded in the file…
Where can I find only the tuner part of the KII Pro ?

At least we know the problem is somewhere in the recording process inside the box. It could be tuner, or the way the audio is processed. You’d probably need the source code to try to locate the issue, but it’s not available. It happens both in DTV app in Android and LibreELEC, so it could be a driver or hardware problem.
There’s little hope to fix this in Android, but maybe @piotrasd could help you debug this in LibreELEC, or maybe better, report your issue on LibreELEC forums explaining your hardware setup, and with some of the steps you’ve taken to locate the source of the audio issue.
Buggs with NEOTV+ iptv application. Channels H265 work only after several attempts. Is there is a solution with the codecs, or we need an update to fix the problem.

Florin use latest custom firmware of Malay for working with USALS. For Ro use (Lon E 027.** and Lat N 045.**) with 0 in front. May be original firmware have a wrong table of satellites.

Make sure you only have one storage device connected for firmware update, no other micro SD card or USB flash drive/HDD. In some case, it might help if you delete your other files in the drive.

Now to the Picon. On NTV + 36 satellite, I remade them and lay them out. For other satellites, your help is required.
