Zidoo X1 II Android Media Player Powered by Rockchip RK3229 SoC Supports 4K 10-bit H.264 & H.265 Videos

Rockchip RK3229 is a low cost 4K SoC that supports 10-bit H.265 up to 4K @ 60 fps and 10-bit H.264 and VP9 up to 4K @ 30 fps, and found in inexpensive TV boxes such as MXQ 4K. Zidoo has decided to design a new product based on the processor, with the same enclosure as Allwinner H3 based Zidoo X1 TV box, and aptly called Zidoo X1 II.

  1. ok, looks isn’t everything.

but damn, that thing is ugly! And it’s not like you could hide it easily because it’s just screaming, bright, glossy yellow.

  2. other than the hideous looks will this be good enough for Kodi with Quasar addon? Also how’s Zidoo reputation with its firmwares if anyone has experience with other devices.

  3. At a moment I thought why did they took a photo of a helmet with a remote control. Then I realized that’s the device.

  4. They are “printing” their devices each month new SoC but support getting bad with each new release

  5. So… this is better than the usual RK3229 based players? Like the MXQ 4K? The MXQ is $20-30 less (almost half the price!), and it has SPDIF…

  6. I hope that it is a whole lot better than the original X1. I had one fry itself because it overheated and then the replacement also suffered from the same heat dissipation issues.

They pretty much dropped support for the original X1 the moment that the X6 came onto the scene and it took ages for them to bring out firmware v1.0.20
    .
Zidoo spread themselves a little bit too thin and should concentrate on getting existing products right before they embark on new ventures and start dropping support.

  7. This device is the same known as OTT MX4 and EKB329-MX4 by Eny.
Zidoo have added a strong security system against piracy (!?) This made the system a bit crippled as it uses ZBMC (old XBMC now Kodi).
Indeed is a great low price Box Tv, but I would suggest the original by OTT or Eny whihc are really open. Those square box devices sports 3 USB ports
and a SPDIF port, that aren’t in this Zidoo helmet.

And excuse me, Rockchip is really a great SOC manufacturer.
