  1. Ref. IS – OIS :

This is the image stabilization technology used in the camera. OIS refers to optical image stabilization. The other method if EIS or electronic image stabilization. In the case of OIS, any shakes in the handling of the camera are corrected by mechanically fixing up the lens position (using a gyro or other similar sensor). In the case of EIS, the lens position remains the same, but the image processor actually accounts for the displacement in the received pixels from various regions in the frame (again, you will need external sensors to tell the processor as to what the extent of ‘shakiness’ is).

OIS is preferable, but is obviously costlier since you need extra hardware to be able to physically shift the lens position around. EIS is found in most low end cameras.

  2. any news for a dslr android camera, desperatly searching the web, but can’t find it 🙁
(meaning the camera that we can change the lens manually)

  3. @max
Except you can’t make phone calls (Insert manic laughter over max’s fading weird laughter and look of disbelief). 🙂
if we are to believe Engadget, the camera can only be used to transfer data over the phone network, and despite the microphone and speaker, you can’t make calls with that thing. But it will come!

  4. 😀 Going by the features and hardware specs, to me it looks like a S3 has been slapped with a point and shoot camera and I guess it must be using Intel Wireless PMB9811X chip just like other Samsung galaxy phones so voice must be just a software disabled thing. Going by the Samsung record It should not be very hard for XDA developers to enable voice back on it.

Also I’ve a feeling that they are preparing their own PROVIEW kind of series as there are rumors that NOKIA might introduce PROVIEW on coming up S4 Quad WP8 phones.

Mobile phones were already walking towards cameras, Now with this, first time we see that point and shoot cameras also started taking step towards mobile phones.

    Thou Shalt meet soon 🙂
