YOOE F4 – Freescale i.MX6 Quad Core Cortex A9 Android 4.0 Tablet

Freescale i.MX6 processors will finally be available in some devices very soon, as YOOE is currently finalizing the development of YOOE F4 (Model: RT-E597A), a 9.7″ tablet powered by Freescale i.MX6 Quad with 1 GB of RAM and running Android 4.0.4. Samples will be available in June and mass-production is expected to start in July. The company will sell this tablet for 220 to 250 USD retail.

Charbax is currently in Shenzhen and a shot a video showing the tablet at the company offices, and performance seems to be very good. YOOE is the company that manufactures one of the first low cost Allwinner A13 Tablets.

  1. Would you be able to flash the linaro releases onto this tablet?
    If possible this is beyond compare to anything else 🙂

  2. i wonder when genesi are gonna get thie asses in gear and knock out the long overdue efika 2 board (which now is supposed to be a imx6) … hope they havnt retreated permanently from the consumer sphere

    Yes, this should be possible, but until now Linaro only officially supports development boards, although the community also support some other device like the Efika MX. So I’m not sure the linaro kernel would work out of the box for a given i.MX6 tablet.

    It always possible to use the Linaro rootfs on any Cortex A based device. Now I’m using Linaro 12.04 on my Mele A1000 (rootfs only) with kernel 3.0.8 which is not provided by Linaro.
