Advantech announced a mini-ITX board – AIMB223 – featuring AMD G-Series processors: T56N (dual core @ 1.65 GHz)), T40E (dual core @ 1GHz) and T44R (single core @ 1.2 GHz). The AIMB-223 board comes with up to 4GB of DDR3 SDRAM, PCI and PCI Express expansion, four SATA III interfaces, gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 and more.
That’s yet another mini-ITX board based on AMD G-Series such has the iBase MI958 or the Fujitsu D3003-0x. The relative proliferation of mini-ITX board based on AMD embedded processors is probably due to the fact that AMD provides a Mini-ITX Reference Design.
Here are the specifications of the board:
- Processor:
- AMD G-Series T56N (1.65GHz – dual-core – 18W TDP) or
- AMD G-Series T40E (1GHz – dual core – 6W TDP) or

Advantach also provides drivers, software API and utilities for this board that runs Windows Embedded Standard 2009 by default. Advantech does not say if they officially support other OS such as Linux.
The drivers (binaries) include:
- AMD CHIP for AIMB-223
- RAID XP for AIMB-223
- LAN for AIMB-223
- Audio for AIMB-223
And the software API includes support for the following:
- Control: GPIO. SMBus, I2C
- Monitor: Watchdog, hardware monitor, hardware control
- Display: Brightness control and backlight
- Power Saving: CPU speed and system throttling
Finally, 5 utilities are provided namely: BIOS flash utility to update the BIOS, Embedded Security ID utility to protect IP, Monitoring utility to monitor system health, eSOS to recover in case of OS crash and Flash Lock to prevent unauthorized access to the content on the Cflash.
