Orange Pi One Development Board Sells for $3.69 Shipped (Promo)

[Update: Sorry the promo is over, and price is back at $13.79]

Last time, we had a promo for Orange Pi PC for $8.57 on GearBest, and it was legit, but quantity limited, so not so easy to get. There’s now another promo from the same parent company, as Orange Pi One is sold for $3.69 including shipping on Everbuying with 289 pieces and about 8 days left.

In case you can’t recall Orange Pi One specs, it’s a development board based on Allwinner H3 quad core Cortex A7 SoC, with 512 MB RAM, micro SD card for storage, 10/100M Ethernet,  a USB ports, and HDMI output. The best Linux OS for the board is probably Armbian. The normal price is around $13 to $14 shipped.

Thanks to Theguyuk for the tip.

  1. I don’t really need one, but I still bought one just to try if I could pass check out.. It’s shipped without tracking number. If you need tracking it’s $1.99 extra.

  2. @cnxsoft
LOL, same with me. I really don’t need another H3 device but since I sent my OPi One to another dev months ago I thought: why not. Checkout accepted, 243 boards left now 😉

  3. In UK price it is, ERM let’s see should I buy 1 Raspberry Pi Zero, or get 2 Orange Pi one for the same price?

    Hard question that ??????

  4. @Val
I understand GearBest, Everybuying, and VolumeBest are under the same owner. I’ve been told the company is listed on the stock exchange in China, but I don’t know its name.

  5. I added 2 of them to the basket but couldn’t push the ‘place your order’ button. Probably sold out then already although they said still 140 in stock.

  6. Ohh, nice, they reduce the price that much but don’t block 3 or 5 per customer. They’re promoting speculation, good job.

Somebody sure bought 50-60 to sell them for twice as much, or maybe thrice.

  7. Thank you very much for the information … I already have 2 Orange pis ones, but hey what the hell, bought another 5 😀

    Many Thanks again –

  8. Not sure why you guys are so proud that you got 5 or 10 , you do realize that some people might have actually needed these ?
I’m not complaining because if I need one I can afford to get one but I’m just saying don’t be greedy, yes it’s cheap but buy how much you need.
By the way there’s a promo on Gearbest too, it’s not that cheap but it’s still something: http://www.gearbest.com/boards-shields/pp_414683.html?wid=21

  9. Microcenter has had a 3 day sale, Raspberry Pi Zero 1.3 Camera, first one $0.99, next 2 -5 $9.99, the $12.99 after 6

pretty much means bring all your friends and pass out dollar bills. Maybe precursor to bumping the cost of this SKU. I’ve never understood how any retail outlet like this could be making money at 5 bucks.

    thanks
    Jim

  10. ordered 4, got status ‘refunded’ today (i still have to get the money to my paypal) :/ and i hoped for a nice diy project. anyway, there is promo for opi1 on gearbest for 12usd, i wonder if they just moved some of the boards for a better deal + free social media advertising.

  12. I spotted the offer and mentioned it. At least if true they are refunding the money, where a scam would send no goods and keep the money.

They have another offer but not mentioning it now.

  13. They wrote: “It shows wrong price on our website.” – but the image was also different indicating special offer. There were same product with different price at the same time visible.

  14. Just received this email:

  15. I already learned the lesson the last time with Orange Pi PC and Gearbest. 🙂 The only result was that I lost money during currency conversion to USD.

  16. @ondrej: i call BS, i’ve ordered when there still were ~300boards on the counter, and they were slowly getting sold (took more than hour), so it wasnt ‘oh my app didnt count them so fast’). most likely it was marketing stunt or real error.

  17. @Marius
This gave me a chance to run a Orange Pi cluster which I have been planning to test; , in case you dont understand the need for 5 boards, its not greed if I am greedy , I would have bought the WHOLE LOT, not just 5,
Stop whinging and get on with your life

  18. Just got a message from everbuying. According to email, my order has been shipped out. Not bad if board really arrives for 2.54 usd.

  19. Mine has shipped:

Your order EE16091905XXXXXXX has been shipped out: check inside for your tracking number

It will take forever to arrive since they used Netherlands Post Surface Mail… Maybe I’ll get it in November.

  20. full refund has been received here. exactly same story was on opipc promotion. lesson for the future, promos, order 1 item and be happy with cheap deal, order more and they will weasel out 😉 which is kind weird because on their flash sale they properly applied ‘1 item per customer’.

  21. also got a Your order E160919xxxxxxxxxx has been shipped out: check inside for your tracking number – and got a tracking number for belgium post – not working for now

  22. @kc
Easy: ‘wrong price’ due to their system showing wrong numbers for bulk orders. It should have been read: One piece for $3.69, 2 pieces for $12.69, 3 pieces $25.69, …

  23. @jim st

I started when they were offering them at $5 for up to 9, then they dropped to $1 each. At the end of 2 weeks, I had over 50 PI Zeroes collected 😉

Note, I was not scalping these, I was buying them for specific people in ZA, where they are not currently available.

  24. Nice, with Armbian legacy kernel and configuring OPi One as headless data logger with USB and Ethernet active (h3consumption -D 132 -g off) consumption goes down to ~780mW. Disabling Ethernet too we’re at 580 mW. When Ethernet driver is built as module it can be loaded/unloaded on demand:

Disabling USB completely should save another 125 mW.
