Android 4.2 Laptop Boasts 13.3″ Display, Dual Core WM8880 SoC

Charbax has just found a 13.3″ laptop powered by WonderMedia WM8880 dual core Cortex A9 processor running Android 4.2 manufactured by Shenzhen Honlin, and selling for about $108 in China (retail or factory price?). That’s the first time I see a Chinese ARM based laptop with a somewhat decent screen, so I went to Aliexpress to find the device or a similar one, and after going through all the 13.3″ Android tablets, I found a no brand laptop, model GA1331F, sold by Shenzhen GA Technology Development with apparently the same specs for  about $170 including shipping via EMS. GA1331F Laptop specifications: SoC – WonderMedia WM8880 Dual-Core ARM Cortex A9 @ 1.5GHz with Mali-400 MP2 GPU System Memory – 1GB DDR3 RAM @ 1033MHz, with an option to get 2GB Storage – 8GB or 16GB MLC NAND flash, SD card slot (Up to 32GB) Display – 13.3″ LCD screen (1280 x 800) […]

WM8880-MID Dual Core Tablet is Now Available for $59

Remember SunnyCube V7 tablet with a dual core Cortex A9 SoC available for just $40 in China? Nevertheless, the device, or a similar device, based on WonderMedia WM8880 is now available for $59 including shipping on GeekBuying, which puts it in slightly higher price (~$7 more) than AllWinner A13 tablets, but with much more processing power, and HDMI output. Here are some updated specs: SoC – VIA WM8880 Dual core Cortex A9 processor @ 1.5GHz + Mali-400 MP2 GPU System Memory – 512MB DDR3 Storage – 4GB Flash + micro SD slot Display – 7-inch WVGA (800×480) display Video Output – HDMI port Video Playback – H.264, WMV, MPEG2/4, VP8 (up to 1080p) Connectivity – Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g Camera […]

UGoos UG-LMW70 – 72 USD Android 4.0 7″ Touchscreen Tablet Powered By VIA WM8850 (Cortex A9) Processor

Back in January, VIA announced the WonderMedia Prizm WM8950 processor featuring a Cortex A9 processor @ 800 Mhz with a Mali-400 GPU, but recently I have seen a few tablets with the WM8850, the little (or rather the big) brother of WM8950, with the same Cortex A9 but cadenced at 1.2 GHz and Mali-400 GPU. VIA has apparently not officially announced this new processor, and details are not available on Wondermedia website yet, but the WM8850 targets the same markets as AllWinner A10/A13 Cortex A8 processors and is said to be competitive in price. And it must be competitive, because I just found an Android ICS tablet based on WM8850 for $72 US (including shipping) on aliexpress (UGoos UG-LMW70) with the following specifications: CPU –  Via Wondermedia WM8850 Cortex A9 @ 1.2GHz + Mali-400 GPU Memory –  512MB RAM Storage –  4GB NAND FLASH + microSD card slot (Up to […]
