Here’s an excerpt of the press release: Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723) and its subsidiary, Renesas Mobile Corporation, today announced a new member of the R-Car series of automotive systems-on-chip (SoCs), the R-Car H1, capable of delivering up to 11,650 Dhrystone MIPS (DMIPS), and ideal for the high-end car navigation market. The R-Car H1 SoC offers an innovative architecture where the application […]
AMD G-Series Based Mini-ITX: Advantech AIMB223
Advantech announced a mini-ITX board – AIMB223 – featuring AMD G-Series processors: T56N (dual core @ 1.65 GHz)), T40E (dual core @ 1GHz) and T44R (single core @ 1.2 GHz). The AIMB-223 board comes with up to 4GB of DDR3 SDRAM, PCI and PCI Express expansion, four SATA III interfaces, gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 and more. That’s yet another mini-ITX board based on AMD G-Series such has the iBase MI958 or the Fujitsu D3003-0x. The relative proliferation of mini-ITX board based on AMD embedded processors is probably due to the fact that AMD provides a Mini-ITX Reference Design. Here are the specifications of the board: Processor: AMD G-Series T56N (1.65GHz – dual-core – 18W TDP) or AMD G-Series T40E (1GHz – dual core – 6W TDP) or AMD G-Series T44R (1.2GHz – single core – 9W TDP) Chipset: AMD A55E Memory: up to 4GB of DDR3 SDRAM Expansion Slots: 1 […]
AMD G-Series QSeven Module Conga-QAF by Congatec
Congatec announced the Conga-QAF, a Qseven module powered by AMD G-Series embedded processors. The module will come with either the AMD G-T40R single core or the AMD G-T40E dual core processor, with 2 GB DRAM by default (expandable to 4GB), numerous I/O interfaces and an optional on-board SSD with a capacity of up to 32 GB. If you are not familiar with the QSeven Form Factor and why it is used, please read the beginning of the blog post entitled “QSeven Form Factor Embedded Boards by Seco“. To summarize, this is a standard to allow developers to use modules (based on QSeven specs) to test their software on several processors by inserting those modules in a common main board. Here are the specification of the Conga-QAF Qseven module: CPU AMD G-T40E 1.0 GHz Dual Core (L1 cache 64KB, L2 cache 512kB x2, 6.4 W) AMD G-T40R 1.0 GHz Single Core […]

Texas Instruments AM387X Sitara ARM Cortex A8 Microprocessors
Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced three new AM387x ARM Cortex-A8 microprocessors (MPUs): AM3871, AM3872 and AM3874. TI says these MPUs offer integration of the ARM Cortex-A8 core, peripherals for high-bandwidth connectivity (SATA, D-CAN, PCI Express (PCIe), Gigabit Ethernet switch and more), 3D graphics for enhanced GUIs and display subsystems for camera connectivity and viewing. The AM387x ARM Cortex-A8 MPU can connect to and control IP and CAN networks, HD displays, keyboard, mouse, PC, SD card and various general purpose peripherals, all via one highly integrated processor in an industrial automation application controlling a production line and a high-speed, shared data bus allows for reduced communication overhead and quick access to shared data, which results in reduced chip count, discrete memory costs and printed circuit board (PCB) space compared to separate solutions. Those MPUs are targeted at a variety of fanless applications such as: single board computing, network and communications processing, […]
Wyse Announced Two Linux Thin clients: Z50S and Z50D
Wyse Technology announced that its fastest thin clients ever, the Z90D7 and Z90DW are now shipping at VMworld 2011.
