Installing Android 2.2 on Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

XDA recently released a ROM with Android 2.2.1 (Froyo) for Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Bear in mind that this is still a BETA version with the following known bugs and limitations: Closing certain apps will cause the ROM to crash or reboot Youtube / Adobe Flash status uncertain No camcorder recording No native wifi/usb tethering You’ll need to log into the old market at least once before installing the new one Maybe more. All sort of bad things may happen to your phone, but if xRecovery is correctly setup you should be able to recover. If you still want to go forward, following the “simple” steps below. Qualcomm has just announced the SnapDragon Mobile Development Platform (MDP) distributed by BSquare is now available for purchase. Motorola Atrix 4G: A mobile turns into a Laptop

Motorola showcased the Atrix 4g smartphone based on NVidia Tegra 2 and running Android 2.2 (upgradable to Android 2.3 gingerbread later in 2011). It can be plugged directly into an ultra-thin laptop chassis (Laptop Dock for Motorola Atrix 4G). Motorola calls that a WebTop. The dock itself has a resolution of 1366×768 but the phone can support up to 1280×1024 in Desktop Mode. Contrary to Lenovo LePad, where the dock has an Intel iCore processor, all processor is done by the smartphone. Once in the dock you’ll be able to use the keyboard and mouse to check your emails (Gmail), play videos (720p supported, but 480p is recommended for smoothness), send SMS, browse the web with Mozilla Firefox (Add-ons are also supported) and more. CES 2011 will be held in Las Vegas 6-9 January 2011 featuring 2700 exhibitors, including manufacturers and service providers for the audio, digital imaging, home theater, wireless, content and gaming markets. Android Remote Control App for Google TV

Google has just released a new app in Android Marketplace to be able to control your Google TV compatible set-top box or TV with your Android Smartphone. It just looks like a normal remote control, but you’ll also be able to use voice recognition to select your channel and videos, select a video on your phone to be played on the TV, etc… I wonder if this will engender family or friend’s wars since several Android phones can be used with one TV. LG Optimus 2X – First Dual Core NVidia Tegra 2 Smartphone

LG has just introduced the Optimus 2X (codenamed the LG Star), the first smartphone to run a dual-core processor namely Nvidia Tegra 2 @ 1GHz. The device will be initially available in Korea (Model: LG-SU660) in January 2011, and later in the year in Europe, then the rest of Asia (Model: LG-P990). LG Optimus 2X will be shipped with Android 2.2 upgradeable to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The phone features a 4-inch WVGA screen, 8GB of internal memory, microSD support (up to 32GB), HDMI output, Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB), DLNA support, an accelerometer, a gyro sensor, 1080p MPEG-4/H.264 playback and recording and finally 2 cameras: an 8 megapixel back camera plus a 1.3 megapixel front camera for video calls.
