Axiomtek AIE100-903-FL is a fanless edge AI System powered by NVIDIA Jetson Nano system-on-module and designed to connect a single 15W PoE camera for AI computing, edge computing, smart retail, smart city, and more. The solution can operate in a wide range of temperatures from -30°C to +60°C and comes with an optional IP42-rated waterproof cover kit that makes it suitable for use in moist places and “semi-outdoor environments”  including freezers and under eaves (edges of the roof which overhang the face of a wall) and other outdoor locations with some protection against rain. Axiomtek just recently introduced CAPA13R AMD Ryzen Embedded V1605B/V1807B SBC in 3.5″ embedded SBC form factor, and the company is now back with another, larger Ryzen Embedded SBC: Axiomtek MIRU130. Why would they launch yet another Ryzne Embedded board two weeks later? Different applications. While CAPA13R targets various graphics-intensive applications ranging from medical imaging to smart digital signage, MIRU130 appears to be especially focused on real-time vision-based AI applications with PoE and USB ports for cameras, and integrated “real-time vision I/Os” such as trigger inputs, LED lighting controllers, camera trigger outputs and an encoder input designed for conveyor tracking. At the end of Last year, we covered Banana Pi BPI-F2S Industrial SBC powered by Sunplus SP7021 “Plus1” SoC with four Cortex-A7 core, an Arm A926 microprocessor, an 8051 core, as well as 128MB to 512MB built-in DDR3 RAM. The company has now unveiled Banana Pi BPI-F2P with the same processor and many of the same features, but with the addition of PoE support on one of the Fast Ethernet ports, as well as an RS-232 DB9 connector, and RS-485 terminal blocks. The expansion connector for an FPGA board found in BPI-F2S is however gone. Raspberry Pi 3 Compute Module was first introduced in 2017 with CM3 and CM3L systems-on-module with or without 4GB eMMC flash for $25 and up before the company launched an update earlier this year with CM3+ modules equipped with a slightly faster processor and up to 32GB eMMC flash for $25 to $40. If you wanted to evaluate the solution for your project you’d have to spend well over $100 for either the official development kit or third-party solutions such as balenaFin which may not support all features of the modules out of the box. A Networking Video Recorder (NVR) is designed to record and playback videos from multiple IP cameras usually connected over Ethernet, and in many cases powered over Ethernet (PoE). The main purpose is for security applications allowing caretakers to monitor multiple cameras at the same time on a mosaic screen. There are plenty of turnkey NVR solutions on the market, but SoliRun, an embedded systems company known for its modules and single board computers, recently introduced the ClearFog GTR A385 family that supports up to eight PoE/PoE+ Gigabit Ethernet Ports.
