RAKWireless Introduces RAK7200 LoRa Tracker | Features & Specifications

RAK7200

RAK7200 is a LoRa Tracker node built around the AcSIP S76G chip. It integrates the ultra-low-power STM32L073 micro-controller, the SX1276 LoRa long range modem, and the CXD5603GF GPS receiver. The RAK7200, being a fully functioning LoRaWAN device, is particularly suited for IoT applications. Such as asset tracking, smart vehicle management, location-based service, etc. According to the device manufacturers, RAKWireless, a leading Chinese IoT solutions company, based in Shenzhen, RAK7200 requires minimal setup. Just pop in the included battery, close the housing and you can start sensing your GPS data over LoRaWAN. Furthermore, there are sensors built-into the board: a 9-axis accelerometer and pressure sensor. The new GPS Tracker node is an upgrade over the company’s earlier offering in the GPS tracker space, the RAK7205. Now, the earlier version, the RAK7205, was mostly aimed at developers, with its larger more robust casing and solar panel. But the RA7200 is more of […]

easySwitchBox is a LoRa Wall Switch Powered by Coin Cell Batteries and Arduino (Crowdfunding)

easySwitchBox is a simple actuator that does one basic thing – To send an on/off signals that can be used to control anything wirelessly. Whatever you intend on doing with the signal sent is left to you. easySwitchBox is the brainchild of easySensors, the Belarus based creators of DIY Arduino focused hardware products. easySwtichBox combines an Arduino based chip and a LoRa radio to be able to send a signal for long-range distances. On the surface, easySwitchBox looks like another wall switch you have seen around, but there is more to it. Powered by the famous Atmega 328P microcontroller, easySwitchBox is more than a wall switch, and you can reprogram it to be an intelligent one indeed or anything else you want. The power supply comes from two attached coin cell battery, making it possible to move the device around and not be confined by location or space. easySwitchBox […]

N-Fuse Launches Raspberry Pi 3B+ LoRaWAN Gateway with PoE Support

PoE enabled Raspberry Pi 3B+ based LoRaWAN™ Gateway

Raspberry Pi is everywhere, and this small size single-board computer has reshaped technology and STEM education. The launch of the recent Raspberry Pi 4 is evident in the success and continuous growth. The Raspberry Pi 3B+ has seen so much success in several maker’s projects, while not the most powerful SBC in the market, but undoubtedly one of the most popular. I once put together an AI-powered mobile robot using just a Raspberry Pi 3B+, an RPLidar A2, and Raspberry Camera which was way capable of so many things. Another exciting Raspberry Pi end product is the “PoE enabled Raspberry Pi 3B+ based LoRaWAN Gateway” from n-fuse. The PoE enabled Raspberry Pi 3B+ based LoRaWAN Gateway as called by n-fuse is a LoRaWAN gateway based on the Raspberry Pi 3B+, the LRWCCx-MPCIE Concentrator, and the SBCPoE RPI Hat. It supports both the Europe 868Mhz and America 915Mhz frequency (you have […]

Icarus IoT Board Features nRF9160 GPS + NB-IoT SiP in Adafruit Feather Form Factor

The new Icarus IoT board from Actinius, uses the Nordic nRF9160 SiP, a powerful yet low power system in a package designed for use with GPS and LTE-M & NB-IoT cellular data, also found in Ruuvi node which we covered a few months ago. The board’s purpose is for mobility and ease of project tracking anywhere, and can be found in application scenarios such as fleet management and security, cargo tracking, or asset monitoring, and many more. The board has power inputs for solar panel, USB or LiPo/Li-Ion Battery, which widens the boards mobile nature, and on-site, in-the-field capability. Since the form factor follows Adafruit Feather, the Icarus board benefits of additional component options for prototyping and DIY electronics projects. The nRF9160, by Nordic Semiconductor, is a SiP (System in a Package) that carries an extensive line of embedded software and hardware. As we had reported the nRF9160 SiP low-power […]

M2M-IoT GW-01 LoRaWAN Gateway is equipped with Orange Pi Zero H2+ SBC

GW-01 Orange Pi Zero H2+ LoRa Gateway

M2M-IoT has developed a new LoRa gateway. The gateway, GW-01, is based on Orange Pi Zero H2+ board. While it is new, it has a lot of useful features. The new GW-01 gateway operates in the 868MHz or 915MHz LoRa frequencies and has -139 dBm sensitivity. Furthermore, the GW-01 is fully functional. It is also an open source low-cost solution to developing a LoRaWAN network. In addition, the gateway supports both OpenWrt, and Armbian distributions, and you’ll find documentation for both on Github. Another great thing about the gateway is that it has two boards. Also, the first board, which is on top, is based on SX1301. This 8 channel LoRa concentrator implements the LoRa physical interface. Now, the second board is at the bottom.  It is also the model that the whole gateway was based on. This board is the OrangePi Zero H2+ 256MB (RAM) development board. The gateway […]

Sony CXM1501GR ELTRES LPWAN Module Promises a Range of over 100 Km

While there are many LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Network) standards, three appear to dominate the news namely LoRaWAN, SigFox, and 3GPP NB-IoT/eMTC. They all offer long range and up to 10-year of battery life enabled by the use of low bitrate which is fast enough to send sensor data. We can now add another LWPAN standard to the list, as Sony has developed ELTRES wireless communication standard suitable for IoT networks, and announced their CXM1501GR ELTRES module with a range of over 100km, even while traveling at 100km/h. Key features and specifications: ELTRES Connectivity Antenna radiated power – 20mW Communication direction – Uplink only Frequency – 923.6 MHz to 928.0 MHz (23-channel frequency hopping) Main modulation system – π/2 Shift BPSK Sub-modulation system – Linear chirp modulation Transmission system – Four repeated transmissions of 0.4 sec or shorter packets Reduction of interference with other systems – CSMA (Carrier Sense […]

Ruuvi Node Open-source Node Solution Combines Nordic Semi nRF9160 Cellular SiP & nRF52840 Bluetooth SoC

Ruuvi Node NB-IoT Bluetooth 5 Solution

Back in 2016, we covered Ruuvi Innovations’ Ruuvitag open source Bluetooth & NFC sensor beacon is based on Nordic Semi nRF52832 Bluetooth SoC. The company has now introduced Ruuvi node, another open source multi-purpose, industrial-grade cellular gateway, environmental sensing, and asset tracking node solution based on not one, but two Nordic Semi chips with nRF91 cellular IoT SiP (System-in-Package) with NB-IoT and LTE M (eMTC) connectivity and nRF52840 multi-protocol Bluetooth 5.0 SoC. It’s an early announcement with the launch of the first pilots of Ruuvi Node planned for Q2/Q3 of this year, so the full specifications are yet to be released. However, thanks to a press release on Nordic Semi website, we do know that Ruuvi Node is meant to be maintenance-free, will include a solar panel for  energy harvesting (which mean the included 45Wh battery may never run out depending on the application), several environmental sensors, GPS positioning provided […]
