MikroTik is Launching a new set of LoRa products this summer

wAP LoRa8 kit

MikroTik, the Latvian network equipment manufacturer, is reportedly launching a new set of IoT LoRa devices this summer. MikroTik who has been traditionally known for its wireless technologies, especially products related to wireless networking like routers, switches, antennas, and others, is going full fledged in support of LoRa network, the promising LPWAN technology for IoT applications. MikroTik announced a new LoRa based Gateway product in Vienna back in March 2019 during the MUM Europe MikroTik User Meetings. It was a combination of a wAP 2GHz outdoor AP with a LoRaWAN card inbuilt inside and will work just like every other LoRa gateways out there. The gateway is expected to support both public and private network server. According to MikroTik, they promised to cut down the high-end prices of LoRa gateway: We will undercut that price be a very very big difference, so our LoRa gateway will much much more affordable than […]

Docker Pi IoT Node(A) Adds LoRa, GPRS and GPS to Raspberry Pi Board

The Docker Pi IoT Node(A) is the latest addition to the Docker Pi series of modules meant to enhance IoT capability and expand on the Raspberry Pi family of SBCs. Although it is mountable on the Raspberry Pi SBC, the HAT form factor allows it to be used with other similar single board computers such as Rock64 board. The Docker Pi IoT Node(A) supports GPS/BDS (Beidou), GSM, and LoRa. The add-on board interfaces to the host over I2C, in order to control LoRa & GSM connectivity, as well as the GPS/BDS module through SC16IS752 chip. There are a number of code examples and instructions that can be found on the Wiki. The unit can also be controlled directly without programming, and all the GPIO pins are extended so the board can stack on other HAT compatible boards, in appropriate layers. Specifications GPRS section Low power consumption, standby sleep current <1mA […]

M2M-IoT GW-01 LoRaWAN Gateway is equipped with Orange Pi Zero H2+ SBC

GW-01 Orange Pi Zero H2+ LoRa Gateway

M2M-IoT has developed a new LoRa gateway. The gateway, GW-01, is based on Orange Pi Zero H2+ board. While it is new, it has a lot of useful features. The new GW-01 gateway operates in the 868MHz or 915MHz LoRa frequencies and has -139 dBm sensitivity. Furthermore, the GW-01 is fully functional. It is also an open source low-cost solution to developing a LoRaWAN network. In addition, the gateway supports both OpenWrt, and Armbian distributions, and you’ll find documentation for both on Github. Another great thing about the gateway is that it has two boards. Also, the first board, which is on top, is based on SX1301. This 8 channel LoRa concentrator implements the LoRa physical interface. Now, the second board is at the bottom.  It is also the model that the whole gateway was based on. This board is the OrangePi Zero H2+ 256MB (RAM) development board. The gateway […]

Semtech Releases Open Source Software for LoRa Gateways & Devices

Lora Basic Station

Semtech has released open source software for LoRa-based gateways including LoRa Basic Station packet forwarder for Linux-based gateways, LoRa Basic MAC implementation of the LoRa Alliance’s LoRaWAN specification, and LoRa Basic loader bootloader capable of handling firmware updates. All three components are available for free under a revised 3-Clause BSD license. LoRa Basic Station supports LoRaWAN Classes A, B, and C, presents a unified radio abstraction layer supporting Concentrator Reference Designs v1.5 and v2, and implements various backend protocols. Apart from mbedTLS and libloragw/-v2, it does not rely on external dependencies, the code is written in C language only, and easily portable to Linux gateways and embedded systems. LoRa Basic MAC is a fork of IBM’s LMiC library, also implemented in C language,  supports multiple regions selectable at compile and/or run time, and can handle Class A, Class B, and Class C devices. Basic MAC uses LoRa Basic loader to […]
