Arducam KingKong – A Raspberry Pi CM4-based Edge AI camera with global shutter sensor, Myriad X AI accelerator

ArduCam KingKong is a Smart Edge AI camera based on the Raspberry Pi CM4 and system-on-module based on Intel Myriad X AI accelerator that follows the Raspberry Pi 5-powered Arducam PiINSIGHT camera introduced at the beginning of the year. The new product launch aims to provide a complete Raspberry Pi-based camera rather than an accessory for the Raspberry Pi 4/5. Smart cameras built around the Raspberry Pi CM4 are not new as we previously covered the EDATEC ED-AIC2020 IP67-rated industrial AI Edge camera and the StereoPi v2 stereoscopic camera used to create 3D video and 3D depth maps. Banana Pi launches $30 WiFi 6 router with Triductor TR6560 SoC running a fork of OpenWrt

When Banana Pi started to sell the low-cost Banana Pi BPI-WiFi 6 router board powered by Triductor TR6560 dual-core SoC and TR5220 WiFi 6 chipset, I mentioned they should probably offer a complete system with enclosure and antennas for this to become more popular. It took a while, or about nine months to be precise, but the Banana Pi BPI-WiFi 6 router is now available with a plastic enclosure, four external antennas, an Ethernet cable, and a power supply for $30.90 plus shipping on Aliexpress. Linux 6.8 release – Notable changes, Arm, RISC-V, and MIPS architectures

Linus Torvalds has just announced the release of Linux 6.8 on the Linux kernel mailing list: So it took a bit longer for the commit counts to come down this release than I tend to prefer, but a lot of that seemed to be about various selftest updates (networking in particular) rather than any actual real sign of problems. And the last two weeks have been pretty quiet, so I feel there’s no real reason to delay 6.8. We always have some straggling work, and we’ll end up having some of it pushed to stable rather than hold up the new code. Nothing worrisome enough to keep the regular release schedule from happening. After the first part of the review with an unboxing and a teardown of the MINIX NEO Z100-0dB mini PC, we tested the fanless Intel N100 mini PC with Windows 11 Pro in the second part, and we are now ready to report our experience with Linux, and more specifically Ubuntu 22.04, on the MINIX Z100-0dB mini PC in the final and third part of the review. Panthor open-source driver for Arm Mali-G310, Mali-G510, Mali-G610, and Mali-G710 GPUs to be part of Linux 6.10

Collabora has been working on the Panthor open-source GPU kernel driver for the third-generation Arm Valhall GPU (Arm Mali-G310, Mali-G510, Mali-G610, and Mali-G710) for around two years, and the code has just been merged in drm-misc meaning it should be part of the upcoming Linux 6.10 release sometime in July 2024. Many regular readers must already be familiar with the Panfrost open-source driver for Arm Mali GPUs as we’ve covered its development progress over the years. Panthor is a new kernel driver specific to the 3rd gen Valhall GPUs that still relies on the Panfrost driver residing in userspace, as explained by Boris Brezillon from Collabora.
