One Mix 3 Yoga 8.4″ Mini Laptop is up for Pre-order for $760

In recent years we’ve seen several companies launch “mini laptops” with small 6″ to 7″ displays. They have the advantages of being really compact and lightweight, and thanks to Intel Gemini Lake & Amber Lake processors can be fairly powerful. The problem is that with small displays come small keyboards, and people have had a hard type typing text on those. So we’ve started seeing announcements for mini laptops with 8″ to 8.9″ displays such as GPD Pocket 2 Max and CHUWI minibook that should make like easier at the cost of a slightly larger and heavier devices. Pinebook Pro Arm Laptop Video Demo

Pine64 first revealed working on Pinebook Pro Arm Linux laptop at FOSDEM 2019 back at the end of January. The first Pinebook laptop had limited hardware resources, and as such was meant for simple tasks, but Pinebook Pro equipped with Rockchip RK3399 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB to 128GB flash, and a 14″ Full HD display is designed to be used as your main laptop. That means everything needs to work from 3D graphics acceleration, to hardware video decoding, and USB-C video output. GPD Pocket 2 Max mini Laptop Combines 8.9″ Display with Core m3-8100Y Amber Lake Processor

In recent years, companies like GPD and One Mix have launched tiny laptops with 6″ to 7″ displays. Those have the advantages of being ultra-portable, yet delivering pretty good performance thanks to Intel Kaby Lake-Y, Gemini Lake, and Amber Lake processors. Size can also be an inconvenient, even if your eyes are good enough for the tiny screens, the keyboard does not allow maximum productivity for most people. Snapdragon 855 processor is found in premium smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy S10 or Xiaomi Mi 9, but Snapdragon 855 Mobile Hardware Development Kit has now started to show up on Qualcomm developer website. T-bao T15A 15.6″ Portable Display Works with Phones, Computers and Game Consoles

In recent months we’ve seen several lightweight portable displays that works with phones or computers such as the 12.5″ ultra-lightweight LAPSCREEN display or TAIHE Gemini 15.6″ Full HD / 4K portable display. NexDock 2 Laptop Shell Gets a Full HD Display, a USB type-C Port (Crowdfunding)

NexDock 14″ laptop shell was first introduced in 2016 to help people convert their smartphones or single board computers into a laptop with a display, a keyboard and battery. The crowdfunding campaign was successful with over $360,000 raised for the projects, and the first NexDock has been shipped to 2,600+ backers. The following year, the company – now called Nex Computer – announced plan to develop NexDock 2 with support for Intel Compute Cards. Snapdragon 8cx 5G Compute Platform Targets 5G always on, always connected PCs

Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 8cx processor for so-called always on, always connected mobile PCs in December 2018. The processor comes with eight Qualcomm Kryo 495 core, an Adreno 680 GPU with a 128-bit memory interface, NVME SSD, UFS 3.0 support, as well as a Snapdragon X24 4G LTE modem among other features. But the launch 5G cellular connectivity will start to (slowly) take off this year, so the company also revealed plans for Snapdragon 8cx 5G compute platform that brings the same processing power as 8cx processor but with an extra Snapdragon X55 5G modem. The company did not provide that many details about Snapdragon 8cx 5G in the press release, but we already know Snapdragon 8cx specifications as well as the key features of Snapdragon X55 2nd generation 5G modem, so we should already have a good idea about the platform.
