Neousys Technology, a Taiwan-based provider of rugged embedded systems, has introduced the NRU-110V Edge AI inference platform powered by an NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier SoM. It comes with eight FAKRA Z connectors to support up to eight GMSL automotive cameras, as well as one 10GbE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) port for real-time video data transfer. The system specifically supports GMSL cameras with 3-exposure HDR, LED flicker mitigation, good light-sensitivity, and IP67 waterproof characteristics, and also comes with a synchronize mechanism to simultaneously capture high-quality images from 8 GMSL cameras while accepting GPS PPS signal to align image data with other sensors. That makes it suitable for various applications ranging from autonomous driving, mobile robots, precision agriculture, intelligent V2X, to teleoperation. Neousys NRU-110V specifications: System-on-Module – NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier SoM with SoC NVIDIA 512-core Volta GPU 8-core Arm Carmel CPU 2x NVDLA Engines 7-Way VLIW Vision Processor Memory – 32GB LPDDR4x […]
Linux 5.10 LTS release – Main changes, Arm, MIPS and RISC-V architectures
Linus Torvalds has just released Linux 5.10: Ok, here it is – 5.10 is tagged and pushed out. I pretty much always wish that the last week was even calmer than it was, and that’s true here too. There’s a fair amount of fixes in here, including a few last-minute reverts for things that didn’t get fixed, but nothing makes me go “we need another week”. Things look fairly normal. It’s mostly drivers – as it should be – with a smattering of fixes all over: networking, architectures, filesystems, tooling.. The shortlog is appended, and scanning it gives a good idea of what kind of things are there. Nothing that looks scary: most of the patches are very small, and the biggest one is fixing pin mapping definitions for a pincontrol driver. This also obviously means that the merge window for 5.11 will start tomorrow. I already have a couple […]
Jetson Mate Cluster box takes four Jetson Nano/Xavier NX modules
While we’ve seen plenty of cluster boards based on Raspberry Pi SBC or Compute Modules, I had never seen clusters of Jetson modules. Those already exist, and PicoCluster has a few, but what made me write this post today is Seeed Studio’s Jetson Mate cluster box equipped with a carrier board taking up to four NVIDIA Jetson Nano or Xavier NX modules, an enclosure covered with a largish cooling fan with RGB LED for good effect… Jetson Mate specifications: SoM compatibility – Jetson Nano or Jetson Xavier NX via four SO-DIMM sockets Video Output – HDMI 2.0 Networking Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45) port Microchip KSZ9896CTXC 6-port GigE Managed Switch for internal networking between the modules and to the outside world Camera – 2x MIPI CSI connectors USB – 4x USB 3.0 ports (one per module), 1x USB 2.0 port, 1x USB-C port for power Debugging – UART debug pins (4x pairs, […]
Compact Jetson Xavier NX/ Nano open hardware baseboard supports Android
When it comes to NVIDIA Jetson family of modules, we should understand that NVIDIA Jetson Nano is for makers and STEM education, while Xavier NX is more geared towards professional and commercial use. The compute module Xavier NX was announced before the development kit, which includes the module and reference carrier board and otherwise for NVIDIA Jetson Nano. There are some third-party carrier boards & edge computers available for Jetson Xavier NX and Jetson Nano, including DesignCore Carrier Board and Diamond FLOYD Carrier Board. Antmicro, a custom hardware, software, and AI engineering company, came up with a compact open hardware device: Jetson Nano/ Xavier NX baseboard. It supports both NVIDIA Jetson Nano SoM as well as the Xavier NX SoM. The board is designed to put NVIDIA’s versatile module at the heart of cutting-edge projects and drive innovation in areas such as AI/ML, drones, medical and industrial object recognition systems. […]
Linux 5.9 Release – Main Changes, Arm, MIPS & RISC-V Architectures
Linus Torvalds has just announced the release of Linux 5.9 on lkml: Ok, so I’ll be honest – I had hoped for quite a bit fewer changes this last week, but at the same time there doesn’t really seem to be anything particularly scary in here. It’s just more commits and more lines changed than I would have wished for. The bulk of this is the networking fixes that I already mentioned as being pending in the rc8 release notes last weekend. In fact, about half the patch (and probably more of the number of commits) is from the networking stuff (both drivers and elsewhere). Outside of that, the most visible thing is a reinstatement of the fbdev amba-clcd driver – that’s a noticeable patch, but it’s basically just mainly a revert. The rest is really really tiny (mostly some other minor driver updates, but some filesystem and architecture fixes […]
NVIDIA Jetson Nano 2GB Developer Kit Launched for $54 and up
NVIDIA Jetson Nano Developer kit was introduced in March 2019 for $99. With a quad-core Cortex-A57 processor, a 128-core Maxwell GPU, and 4GB LPPDR4 RAM, it’s a great low-cost AI platform as we wrote in our Jetson Nano getting started guide where we show how to perform inferences on still images and an RTSP video stream. The company has now gone further in providing an affordable AI computer for developers with the launch of NVIDIA Jetson Nano 2GB Developer Kit with similar features except for the 2GB RAM, and pricing starting at $54 without a wireless adapter or $59 with 802.11b/g/n/ac WiFi 5 USB dongle. Pre-orders are open on sites like Amazon or Seeed Studio and shipping is scheduled to start at the end of the month. If we look at the photo above, there are very few differences against the $99 version, and indeed most of Jetson Nano 2GB […]
