Intel Introduces Thunderbolt 4, Showcases MultiPort Thunderbolt 4 Docks

Intel has just introduced Thunderbolt 4 universal cable connectivity solution for data, video, and power with up to 40 Gbps bandwidth, and USB4 specification compliance. The new standard can support up to four Thunderbolt ports in docks and universal cables up to 2 meters in length. Compared to Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 doubles the minimum video and data requirements leading to support for two 4K displays or one 8K display, and PCIe storage speeds up to 3,000 Mbps. It also enables PC charging on at least one computer port and allows you to wake your computer from sleep by touching the keyboard or mouse when connected to a Thunderbolt dock. It also adds mandatory Intel VT-d-based direct memory access (DMA) protection to helps prevent physical DMA attacks. Intel Launches Core i3/i5 Penta-Core Lakefield Hybrid Processors

Intel unveiled plans for Lakefield Hybrid processors last year which combined a high-performance Sunny Cove core with four low-power Atom cores using Foveros 3D stacking technology and offering high peak single-thread performance and low power consumption for most tasks in a similar way to Arm’s big.LITTLE or DynamIQ technology. The company has now launched the first two penta-core Lakefield hybrid processors with Core i5-L16G7 and Core i3-L13G4 processors both with a 7W SDP (Scenario Design Power), but no TDP number which makes sense considering the Hybrid nature of the processor. GPD WIN Max Handheld Game Console Raises over One Million Dollars on First Day (Crowdfunding)

The first time we wrote about GPD product was for one of their portable game consoles, but since then the company has made many mini laptops that are fairly similar except for the lack of gaming controls. The company is now back with a portable game console powered by a 15W Intel i5-1035G7 Ice Lake processor designed for AAA games. Intel Launches 15W to 125W Comet Lake VPro Processors for Enterprise Customers

Last week, we covered AMD Ryzen PRO 4000 processors with 15W TDP targeting ultra-thin business laptops with PRO features such as security, manageability, reliability, and longevity which are needed by enterprise customers. AMD compared the performance of their new processors to Intel Comet Lake processors without PRO features, but Intel has now just announced several Comet Lake processors with Intel VPro, including three 15W parts aims at the same markets as AMD Ryzen PRO 4000 processors. Last week, we wrote about XCY X41 mini PC featuring a 10th generation Intel Core i7-10510U Comet Lake processor and cooled with an internal fan.
