Jide and Asus Optimized Remix OS 2.0 on a Specific Intel Celeron 3150 mini-ITX Board

Remix OS 2.0 Android port with optimization for desktop use is great on ARM hardware, as in most cases, Linux distributions or Windows 10 don’t really run perfectly on such hardware. Remix OS for x86 could also be an option for your older computer that may feel sluggish with recent desktop operating systems, but would people really run it on newer and faster x86 hardware as their main OS? Jide and Asus actually think  there’s a market here, and both companies collaborated to optimize Remix OS 2.0 for Asus N3150I-C mini-ITX motherboard powered by Intel Celeron N3150 processor. For reference, I’ll list the main specifications of Asus N3150C-I motherboard: SoC – Intel Celeron N3150 “Braswell” quad core processor @ up to 2.08 GHz with Intel HD Graphics Gen8 @ up to 640 MHz – 6W TDP System Memory – 2x U-DIMM up to 8GB DDR3 1600/1066 MHz Non-ECC dual channel […]

PiPO KB2 is a Foldable Keyboard PC Running Windows 10

We’ve already seen a few Windows 10 keyboard PCs, that look similar to the good old Commodore 64, are now being sold, such as K3 Wintel, but PiPO, a manufacturer that likes to try new ideas, has now designed a foldable keyboard PC powered by a Cherry Trail processor, and featuring a battery and support for WiDi for a cable-free experience. PiPO KB2 foldable computer specifications: SoC – Intel Atom x5-Z8300 processor @ 1.44 GHz / 1.84 GHz with Intel Gen8 Graphics System Memory – 2 or 4 GB RAM Storage – 32 or 64 GB eMMC flash + micro SD slot Video Output – HDMI Audio Output – HDMI and 3.5 mm audio jack Connectivity – Wi-Fi 802.11ac & Bluetooth 4.0, WiDi support USB – 1x micro USB port, 1x USB 2.0, 1x USB 3.0 Foldable QWERTY keyboard Battery – 2500 mAh The mini PC, or however you want […]

Mini PCs and Cloudbooks Powered by Intel Apollo Lake Pentium and Celeron Processors, Successors of Braswell SoCs, are Expected in H2 2016

Intel released a presentation entitled “Design Considerations and Reference Designs for Entry, Value and Mainstream PCs” at IDF 2016 Shenzhen, explaining the company vision about low power laptops and mini PCs. At the core of those devices will be “Apollo Lake” Pentium and Celeron Processors with 6 to 10W TDP replacing Braswell processors with better CPU and graphics performance, lower power consumption, and low overall BoM cost. Beside mini PCs, the processors will also find their way into what Intel calls Cloudbooks, some sort of laptops with 2 to 4GB RAM, 32 to 64GB storage, no hard drive, and displays whose size ranges from 11.6″ to 14″. So it looks like Cloudbooks may be the new Netbooks, with better performance and larger displays. Cost savings on the mainboard are achieved thanks to the integration of many features (Signal Processor, SD Card bridge chip, Spead Spectrum Clock…), low power consumption leading […]
