ASRock iBOX-V2000 mini PC integrates an AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000 SBC

AMD officially announced AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000 Zen2 processor family yesterday, with claims of twice the multi-threaded performance-per-watt, up to 30 percent better single-thread CPU performance, and up to 40 percent better graphics performance over Ryzen Embedded V1000 processors. We’ve already covered ADLINK cExpress-AR COM Express module featuring the new AMD embedded processor, but we should expect more Ryzen V2000 hardware announcements over the next few days and weeks, and ASRock Industrial has announced the iBOX-V2000 fanless mini PC with lower power parts, namely Ryzen Embedded V2516 & V2718, and targets embedded, industrial, and Edge applications such as retail, automation, automotive, entertainment, and smart cities. AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000 Zen2 Processors Announced

AMD introduced Ryzen Embedded V1000 processors combining Zen cores and Radeon Vega 3/8 GPU in 2018, and the processors are found in several embedded products including 4K digital signage players, single board computers, computers-on-module, mini PCs, and more. The company has now unveiled an updated family with AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000 SoC’s with up to 8 Zen2 cores, 16 threads, 4MB L2 cache, 8MB L3 cache, DDR4/LPDDR4X memory support, and a TDP range between 10W to 54W depending on the model. Giveaway Week – DFI GHF51 Ryzen Embedded SBC

Let’s end this year’s Giveaway Week with a bang courtesy of DFI GHF51 single board computer, that’s about the size of the Raspberry Pi, but is powered by an AMD Ryzen Embedded R1606G dual-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage. With Gigabit Ethernet, dual micro HDMI output, and a single USB-C port, the board is clearly designed for industrial machines, digital signage, and robotics, but it can also be used as a standard computer via a USB-C hub. I tested the SBC with WIndows 10 Enterprise LTSC and Ubuntu 20.04, and it worked well in Windows, except for some issue with one of my USB hard drives where transfers would just stall from time to time. TUXEDO Aura 15 Linux Laptop is Powered by AMD Ryzen 7 4700U Processor

There are few Linux laptops on the market and usually higher-end ones, so some people may decide to buy a Windows or FreeDOS laptop and install Ubuntu or another Linux distribution themselves. In theory, this is supposed to work, but when installed Ubuntu 18.04 on an Acer Ryzen 7 laptop a couple of years ago, it took me several hours of work to get this working despite it being pre-loaded with Linpus Linux operating system. AMD Launches Chromebook-Optimized Ryzen and Athlon 3000 C-Series Mobile Processors

After unveiling Athlon 3000-series of 15W mobile processors earlier this year, AMD has now announced Chromebook-optimized mobile processors with AMD Ryzen and Athlon 3000 C-Series family. Designed in collaboration with Google, the new AMD mobile “Zen” processors deliver up to 178% faster web browsing and 212% better performance for multitasking and content creation compare to the previous generation AMD A6-9220C powered Chromebooks. There are currently five 15W Ryzen/Athlon 3000 C-Series processors for Chromebooks. All processors are manufactured with a 12nm CMOS processor and look to be based on existing AMD U-series processors namely AMD Ryzen 7 3700U, 5 3500U, Ryzen 3 3250U, Athlon Gold 3150U, and Athlon Silver 3050U. ASROCK 4X4 BOX-4800U Industrial Mini PC is Powered by AMD Ryzen 7 4800U Processor

AMD announced the 15W Ryzen 4000-U series processor family last January. In June, the first mini PC with the new processor was announced, and ASUS PN50 which is now expected to become available in October a choice of Ryzen 3 to Ryzen 7 4000-U series processors.
