Express-TL Tiger Lake-H COM Express module offers 8K video, PCIe Gen4 x16 connectivity

We just noticed some Intel Tiger Lake-H Xeon/Core/Celeron processors for embedded systems last week, and at the time it was not clear when they’d be announced and/or become available. It turns out it did not take long, as ADLINK has just unveiled their TL-Express COM Express Basic Size Type 6 module with the new processors. The new computer-on-module offers a more powerful alternative to the company’s cExpress-TL Tiger Lake UP3 COM Express Compact module, with up to 8 cores/16 threads, 128 GB memory, 8K video output, support for -40°C – 85°C industrial temperature range, and the company also claims it is the first COM Express module to support PCI Express Gen 4 x16, doubling the bandwidth of previous COM Express modules in the market. 25-45W Intel Tiger Lake-H Xeon, Core, and Celeron embedded processors coming soon

While doing some research, I noticed an Intel Core i7-11850HE “Tiger Lake-H” processor on the OpenVino Toolkit website. Parts that end with “E” are usually processors designed for the embedded market. I had never heard about the Tiger Lake-H embedded family, so I looked for “i7-11850HE” processor, and it’s not in Intel Ark, or much anywhere else except on a page in Google Cache, about a COM-HPC module “with the 11th Gen Intel® Xeon® W-11000E Series, Core™ vPro® and Celeron® processors (formerly Tiger Lake-H) for FuSa application”. AMD Athlon 300U powered AM02 Mini PC goes for $240 and up

It’s not that easy to find a relatively low-cost AMD mini PC, and there are more choices on Intel’s side. Most models around $250-$300 are barebone without memory or storage, but AM02 mini PC may be an interesting option as the AMD Athlon 300U powered computer sells for about $240 plus shipping with 8GB RAM and a 128GB SSD, which looks to be an even better option than the Maxtang MTN-FP50 mini PC we reported on last June. All AM02 models ship with Windows 10 by default, but you may be able to ask the seller to install Linux instead (TBC), and support up to 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD. Note that the seller apparently made a mistake with the 16GB/256GB model, as it is sold for just $232.89, instead of $332.89. Chuwi Hi10 Go is a Windows 10 tablet powered by a Jasper Lake processor, namely a Celeron N4500, and equipped with a 10.1-inch Full HD display, 6GB RAM, and 128GB of storage that is currently sold on Aliexpress for $288 and up with shipping expected to start in August 2021. Last April, we wrote about a Jasper Lake Mini PC by Newsmay Technology, and at the time, we were told mass production would go ahead on May 10th, but there have been delays, and Chuwi Hi10 Go appears to be one of the very first Jasper Lake devices to be available to consumers. Vecow ABP-3000 AI Edge gateway combines Hailo-8 AI accelerator with Intel Whiskey Lake processor

We first discovered Hailo-8 AI accelerator with claims of up to 26 TOPS performance and 3TOPS/W efficiency in October 2020. Since then, we’ve seen several integrate an Hailo-8 M.2 module into their design including EdgeTuring Edge AI camera and Vecow VAC-1000 gateway with a 24-core Foxconn processor. ASRock Industrial announces Intel Elkhart Lake mini PCs and motherboards

Intel Atom x6000E Series, Celeron, and Pentium Elkhart Lake processors for IoT Edge applications were launched in September 2020, with many companies shortly introducing modules, single board computers, motherboards, and industrial, rugged mini PCs after the official announcement. ASRock Industrial took more time to announce their Elkhart Lake offerings, with three families of hardware platforms with NUC 6000 BOX Series and IBOX 6000 Series mini PCs, as well as NUC 6000 Motherboard series.
