Rockchip RK3566 Ubuntu 20.04 mini PC offers HDMI and VGA video outputs

Rockchip RK3566 Ubuntu 20.04 mini PC

Another day, another Rockchip RK3566-based device with an unnamed mini PC / thin client running Ubuntu 20.04, equipped with 2 to 4GB RAM, 16GB to 32GB eMMC flash, HDMI and VGA video outputs, Gigabit Ethernet, an optional wireless module, and more…

Specifications:

  • SoC – Rockchip RK3566 quad-core Cortex-A55 processor @ 1.8 GHz with Arm Mali-G52 EE GPU, 0.8 TOPS NPU/AI accelerator
  • System Memory – 2GB to 4GB DDR3
  • Storage – 16GB or 32GB eMMC flash
  • Video Output
    • HDMI up to 1920×1080 (Odd as RK3566 supports 3840×2160 natively, so probably an error)
    • VGA up to 1920×1080
  • Audio – 3.5mm audio output jack, 3.5mm microphone jack
  • Networking – Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port
  • USB – 4x USB 2.0 ports, 1x USB 3.0 port
  • Misc – Power button, support for auto power on
  • Power Supply – 12V/1A via DC power barrel jack
  • Dimensions – 105 x 105 x 25mm

T50 mini PC

Ubuntu 20.04 Jieyun Zhilian T50 board

If the screenshot above is legit, the motherboard is named “Jieyun Zhilian T50 board”. I could not find anything about the T50 board, but Shenzhen Jieyun Zhilian Technology company specialized in thin clients, and the J50 thin client has exactly the same enclosure and ports assignment as the mini PC described above, except it comes with a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor @ 2.0 GHz.

We’ve previously covered other Rockchip RK3566/RK3568 mini PCs running Ubuntu or Android with products such as Zidoo M6 or Firefly EC-R3568PC, and one thing going for the T50 mini PC above is its price, at least for with type of Linux device, as it sells for $89 with 2GB RAM and 16GB flash (no WiFi), and up to $109 with 4GB RAM, 16GB flash, and WiFi. But it should probably be avoided by most people, as the Aliexpress seller “Thin Client Store” does not provide much information, no link, and even tell customers to “Pease (sic.) contact the saler (sic.) for details, before you place the order”. I did that yesterday, but I’ve yet to receive an answer. It’s also not 100% clear whether it is a thin client pre-loaded with software such as Citrix HDX, VMware PCoIP, or RemoteFX, or just a mini PC running Ubuntu 20.04.

Thanks to theguyuk for the tip
