We were presented with prototypes of sub $100 Remix OS laptops based on Allwinner A64 64-bit ARM processor in April, and now it appears at least one of th presented laptops has been launched on Kickstarter where you can get one for as low as $69.

The project aims to raise $75,000, and since it has started fairly well I assume they’ll achieve and surpass their goal. A $69 pledge should get you the 1GB RAM/16GB storage version, while the 2GB/32GB version requires $89 (standard pledge). Shipping is not included, and adds $15 to the US, and $25 to the rest of the world. Delivery is planned for September 2016. More details may be listed on Azpen Hybrx A1160 product page.

1366×768 should be 16:9.
And why they are still using old mali400 GPU?
Interesting, people think they could be ‘productive’ with RemixOS on a device with just 1366×768 pixels, glossy as hell with approx. 5° viewing angle? And some even think about the 1 GB RAM option. And the vendor talks about A64 at 1.3 GHz and providing the ability to use 128GB TF cards as a later campaign upgrade (every Allwinner SoC can deal with 128GB cards). No more questions 🙂
More interesting they could remove the display and battery and house the motherboard in the keyboard and instant mini PC for home office / kodi, messaging, emails and browsing. Would give them a second product to their line up. ( needs working USB printer support )
Not a NAS or Server but a consumer product.
@Theguyuk Guess what? Something like this already exists and is called Jide Remix Mini made by the RemixOS folks themselves (only available with 2 GB RAM for a reason — since RemixOS with 1GB sucks, same applies to low display resolutions). And now compare the price of the Remix Mini with what’s offered here, click on Jean-Luc’s very first link called ‘sub $100 Remix OS laptops’, watch in Charbax’ video how horrible mirrors these cheap laptop displays are and enjoy Tsvetan’s last comment there (Olimex is also building an A64 laptop but not for the ‘buy cheap, buy twice’ folks… Read more »
coincidently $100 is the average price of locally sourced second hand business line (thinkpad/dell/hp) Core2 >2GHz 4GB laptop that will actually be USABLE
this? I dint know what that could be used for, maybe to check email and get frustrated because you just bought rasPEE pretending to be a laptop
This thing is more or less useless. I’d use it with GNU/Linux on it (maybe Debian or OpenSUSE), or if it actually cost <$100, but the ridiculous worldwide shipping price kills my excitement.
@tkaiser I remember when the iPad launched people cried it’s just a large phone where is the need for that! As to low power devices they sell by the millions as Android TV boxes and dongles. I have a Quad core AMD 8GB Laptop with HDMI out but a £20 2GB Android box is quieter, cheap on power used, has a remote and can take a keyboard/mouse. It is multi level markets, there is a millions of pounds market outside Network Attached Storage and Servers. Most business folk I weekly meet use tablets, laptops are to heavy, to old and… Read more »
Hi the crazy thing about technology still exists. These Android laptops have been around about 5 years now when i remember first seeing 13 inch models even at 99 dollars. They housed a dual core wondermedia Soc “wm888” and ICS. Still dold now. but then the other day i find a Free app in the play store that just sends your 25 dollar smart phone screen right over to a laptop at full screen. Da da………….you have an android laptop…..from any 15 year old laptop that you had lying around with USB. The app is 7 years old. It’s a… Read more »
