Ugoos has been working on four new TV box models for the end of year, and one of them is Ugoos UT3+, an Android 4.4 TV box powered by Rockchip RK3288 processor that includes an HDMI input. While it’s not the first RK3288 mini PC with an HDMI input, AFAIC it is the first that supports both picture-in-picture (PiP), and video recording function (DVR), which are also supported by Zidoo X9, but with an Mstar processor.
Ugoos UT3+ specifications:

- System Memory – 2GB DDR3 (1GB optional)

- Input – HDMI input up to 1080p60
- Audio I/F – HDMI, 3.5mm headphone jack, and optical S/PDIF
- USB – 3x USB host ports
- Power Supply – 5V/3A via DC jack

- Temperature Range – Operating: -10~40, Storage: -20~50
- Humidity – 5%-90%, No condensation
While the box is said to be running Android 4.4 right now, Ugoos has recently released a new beta version of Android 5.1 for their RK3288 products, so it’s likely UT3+ will also get an update. The company has been working on this project for a little while, and back in July they shot a video showcasing PiP and DVR functions.
The product appears to be available right now to resellers, but it’s nowhere to be seen on e-retailers, and price is unknown. A few more details may be found on Ugoos UT3+ product page.

Ugoos releasing a new RK3288 device is great news, cause it means their support for RK3288 won’t end at Kit Kat or even Lollipop. I’ve seen the Ugoos UT3S score about 45K in Antutu on Lollipop Alpha, which is quite an impressive score for an almost 2 year old SOC. Also the first results for Fire TV 2 (MT8173) appeared and it scores about 51K in Antutu (not as impressive as I would have expected) and 1700 in Geekbench single (quite impressive). Well.. I would have prefered a PIP based on two HDMI input rather than just displaying one input while navigating in the menu.
Have you seen a PIP based on two input with 3D filters? so two people can watch a 2D different content at the same time (one use left eye filter and ther the right eye filter)
The UT3+ alu case should offer much better thermal characteristics. Will the recording function also work in Ubuntu ? Will there be a 4 GB RAM version ? Whats the price for the 4 GB RAM / 64 GB eMMC version ?

Nagrace was actually the first to release a RK3288 device with PIP with DVR function.
But both Nagrace and UGOOS’s device is based on the same board but has different firmware and hardware optimizations.

HPH NT-V6 was released last year with HDMI input, but they did not have PiP, nor DVR function. Is that the exact same hardware, or they’ve modified the hardware too to support those two functions?

No, it’s a new modified HDMI-IN device released around August 2015.
It has a new Toshiba HDMI-IN chip.

Different hardware. This post is about Ugoos UT3+, the box you linked is Ugoos UT3.
UGOOS devices have great quality firmware and support, so their devices should perform a lot better than other RK3288 & RK3368 manufacturers. Also their RK3288 tv boxes are the only ones with a fan for extra cooling and safe overclocking capabilities and ongoing dual-boot Xubuntu updates. People should remember that when they get a new device. Real good investment for a new tv box(RK3288 or RK3368 device) that will outlast other manufacturers.
