That looks like a pretty decent deal indeed. And finally they have gone for 2GB RAM, too.

I’d prefer 5″ instead but if this is the harbinger of things to come, my MotoG will finally get some worthy competition.

What is the benefit of a 64bits processor if it has only 2GB RAM ? (it should just increase cache-miss i.e. be slower than an equivalent 32 bits machine since pointers are 2x bigger…)

I highly doubt it runs actual Aarch64 binaries, likely it is running generic Aarch32 code.

Is there even any Aarch64 CM code/ROMs around?

Cyanogen OS 11 is based on Android 4.4 Kitkat.
64-bit support was introduced in Android 5.
So this phone’s OS is not 64-bit; just the CPU

It is my understanding that Android 4.4 does support the 32-bit version of ARMv8 (the new ARM instruction set with support for 64-bit). So (apart from clock speed of the chip) there are advantages, even when running 32-bit code. For example, in Geekbench results, 64-bit chips that run in 32-bit mode (“Aarch32”) take advantage of new cryptography instructions and overall have better benchmark scores than chips that run in 100% ARMv7-a compatibilty mode, even without 64-bit mode. Most benchmarks running in a “true” 64-bit mode show low results, indicating that the software support is still immature/unoptimized. This way, speed improves… Read more »

Depending on the site in question, the Cooltab F2 has either “Qualcomm Octacore” or a generic MTK6592, so I am not sure just how similar it really is… And: no stock CM11.

Either way, can Moto please give us the SD615 + 2GB RAM in the MotoG LTE refresh? I’d immediately buy that 🙂

Looks to me like Qualcomm is learning how to play the mediatek game. That’s good! Competition will increase quality and drive down price!

@Sander
This might explain why at around 17:30, the specs screen shows the processor as ARMv7
