Teclast T97 was one the first tablet based on AllWinner A80, an octa-core CortexA15/A7 big.little processor with PowerVR G6230 GPU. It was announced way too early last December… There’s now another tablet much closer to an actual retail availability called Onda V989 featuring AllWinner A80T with a 9.7″ display and 2 or 4 GB RAM that come close to the top of the Antutu scoreboard with 48102 points.
Unfortunately that’s all we know about this tablet at this stage. I’m not sure what A80T means, AllWinner A80 Tablet version?, or AllWinner A80 Turbo, with higher clock frequencies? There has also been some sort of silly season with benchmark related to AllWinner A80 with scores ranging from 23674 to 48102 points in Antutu as shown below for Onda V989. The low score was achieved when A80’s Cortex A15 cores were allegedly clocked at 1.2GHz , but it should be closer to 2GHz when it ships, unless there are serious overheating issues… We’ll find out the truth once products are available, hopefully in July, but the target release for AllWinner A80 seems to be pushed to the future every month…

That’s suspicious *Insert meme here*
That’s interesting!
And why they do not sell the A80 OptimusBoard?
A80 on OptimusBoard ?
PowerVR GPU is known for its fully closed driver and zero open source driver.
By the way maybe we will see A80 before on Cubieboard 4 (really on sell)…
@Jibril
Cubietech is the one building the optimus board

The Onda V989 Octa is now available for internal test, which is priced at RMB 999 (~$160) and can be bought from Onda online store. The officially released version will be priced at RMB 1099 (~$177)
I’ve also asked about A80 vs A80T. Answer:
“A80T belongs to A80 serial,and shares almost same spec as A80 but optimized for tablets. A80T= A80 for tablets, A80T=A80 with Turbo.”
So maybe they have an A80S optimized for set-top boxes, just like Amlogic with M802 and S802.
@Jean-Luc Aufranc (CNXSoft)
actually, it’s 220 USD without shipping, a little bit steep price for a chinese tablet, but I presume it will a be a good one
by the way, any information on the A80T frequency, that I don’t like that “T” lol, the A80 it supposed to be a 2 Ghz
as already suggested by Cnxsoft, A80 clocked at 2Ghz on the Optimus Board (better with a heatsink) is realistic , but with that frequency on Onda V989 there may be overheating issues.
Optimus Board comes from AllWinnerTech…
After A20 CubieTruck, CubieTech has done the new A80 board ” Cubieboard 8 ” ( http://cubieboard.org/2014/05/04/cubietech-will-promote-a80-high-performance-mini-pc/ )
