Sanwa Supply unveils a mouse with receiver acting as a USB/HDMI dock, and a 360-degree USB-C cable

Japanese company Sanwa Supply has introduced two unusual devices to the market. First, a wireless mouse with an RF receiver that also acts as a USB dock with HDMI output, followed by a 360-degree USB-C cable to facilitate cable management.

Sanwa Supply 400-MAWBT209BK (black and silver) and 400-MAWBT209BK2 (black and blue) wireless mice come with a rather large USB Type-C 2.4GHz RF and Bluetooth receiver that not only allows the user to connect the mouse to a computer but also acts as a USB dock with an HDMI output port supporting up to 4Ko60 resolutions for monitors or projectors.

The dock also exposes a 5 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 3 USB Type-C port with PD support up to 100W (90W available to peripherals) which allows the users to connect peripherals such as USB SSD enclosures, memory sticks, and keyboards. Tom’s Hardware reports the company mentions that devices using USB 3.2 Gen 1 may interfere with the 2.4GHz wireless network and can cause occasional connectivity issues.

The mouse itself comes with five buttons, a Bluetooth/RF switch, and a blue LED optical sensor with an adjustable resolution of 800, 1,200, and 1,600 DPI. The range is around 10 meters on non-magnetic surfaces and 2 meters on magnetic surfaces. It may not be suitable for all laptops, as looking at mine, it would not only take one USB-C port but also block a USB-A port next to it. On the positive side, it would allow me to connect two external displays on top of the built-in monitor.

The product is only available in Japan at this time for 5980 JPY, or about $39. However, Sanwa also has an Amazon US store, so it might show up there soon.

360-degree USB-C cable

The company also introduced a 360-degree USB-C cable that I didn’t know I needed, but it may prove to be useful for cable management since you can orient the cable in any way you like. Sanwa even claims it is a 540° cable since it can be rotated in two ways…

The power rating is pretty good since it supports up to 240W, but somehow data speed is limited to USB 2.0 rates (480 Mbps) so it’s not ideal to connect USB4/Thunderbolt storage devices for instance… The video below shows the cable in action.

Two versions of the cable are available with a length of one meter or 1.8 meter priced at respectively 2,580 JPY ($16.5 US) and 2,780 JPY  ($17.8 US) on Amazon Japan. Like the wireless mouse with a USB HDMI dock, I could not find it outside of Japan just yet.
