We’ve already seen a few ESP32-S3 boards with an AMOLED display and plenty with round displays such as SB Components’ Dual Roundy, LILYGO T-RGB ESP32-S3, MaTouch ESP32-S3 Rotary IPS display among others, but I had yet to see an ESP32-S3 board with a round AMOLED display. That’s just what the LILYGO T-Display-S3-AMOLED-1.43 has to offer.
The ESP32-S3 board features a 1.43-inch round AMOLED with 466×466 resolution and a capacitive touchscreen, a microSD card slot for storage, an RTC with backup battery, two 14-pin headers and a Qwiic UART connector for expansion, a USB-C port for power/charging and programming, and a 2-pin connector for a LiPo battery.

LILYGO says the board supports Arduino and PlatformIO with the Arduino GFX library, as well as the ESP-IDF framework. The T-Display-S3-AMOLED-1.43 has its own GitHub repository (i.e. not shared with other T-Display boards) that includes documentation, schematics, firmware files (original, light sleep, or deep sleep), and Arduino samples.
The samples include the factory test program and code samples for each hardware feature for the ESP32-S3 board such as the AMOLED, touchscreen, RTC, and microSD card. As with most other LILYGO boards, it’s better suited for experienced users, but I feel the company has put some extra effort into improving the documentation compared to what they usually provide.
The T-Display-S3 AMOLED-1.43 ESP32-S3 board is sold on AliExpress for $29.98 including shipping and it should soon become available on Amazon along with other ESP32-S3 boards with an AMOLED display. While I mentioned I had never seen an ESP32-S3 board with a round AMOLED in the introduction, LILYGO has already made an ESP32-S3 rotary encoder with a 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen display.
