The SmartCam T1000 series (T1025 and T1023) includes software that enables operators to configure and optimize image sensor performance in real time and reference NVIDIA DeepStream SDK pipelines. The SmartCam T1023 and T1025 AI cameras also work with the company’s FleetTrackr AIoT edge management solution and are suitable for applications such as parking detection, face recognition, surveillance, and license plate reading for vehicles.
SmartCow introduced and showcased the SmartCam T1000 series at NVIDIA GTC 2024, but the AI cameras will only become available in July 2024, and no pricing has been announced. Further details may be found on the product page and in the press release.

This is going to cost $500 or more.
That’s actually too optimistic:
$470-500 would be for Orin Nano itself.
Decent camera with SONY IMX335 sensor – $60 in the best case
Cheapest 256GB NVMe SSD – $20
Quectel EM060K-EA LTE-A Cat 6 module – $60
IP65 enclosure – $20-30
Labour, margin etc. – another $50
You are looking at $700 at the very least.
Still optimistic. Expect close to four digits
The Jetson Orin Nano 8GB was launched for $299, have they increased the price since then?
I think it’s $499 from the start for 8GB, the lack of hardware encoding of camera input kills it. there needs to be better inference-focused kit on the market including video encode/decode in hardware.
I also remembered 300, but alas – that’s yesterday’s news. Everywhere I tried, the lowest price was 470.
Jetson Orin nano has no hardware encoder for the camera, you have to use CPU to encode video from camera in 2024.
Jetson nano is stuck with Ubuntu 18.04? while the hardware is still in stock, the software is getting really old and Nvidia has said there is no plan to upgrade it.
