US-based Altech Corp has recently announced the DO-1 universal monitor for Modbus devices to enable companies to easily monitor, collect, and analyze their equipment and process data such as temperature, humidity, pressure, vibration, and energy usage without any subscription fees or licenses.
The DO-1 is a vendor-agnostic solution that connects to up to 128 RTU-TCP Modbus devices, features 5GB of internal data storage expandable up to 128GB with a microSD card, dual Ethernet, and optional WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The device also implements dual power input with a 12V/24V DC input via a terminal block, and 5V via micro USB as power backup.
Altech DO-1 specifications:
- Storage
- 5GB for data storage (I assume from 8GB eMMC flash)
- MicroSD card slot up to 128GB

- Power Supply
- 12V – 24V DC input via 2-pole terminal block with polarity protection
- 5V backup power supply via micro USB port
- Consumption – Typ.: 3W; max: 12W
- Dimensions – 75 x 55 x 30 mm (Aluminum enclosure, dimensions include connectors, but not optional WiFi antenna)
- Weight – 130 grams
- IP rating – IP20
- Temperature Range – Operating: -20°C to +50°C;storage: -40°C to +85°C
- Humidity – 90% non-condensing
Two models are offered: freestanding (DO-1) and DIN rail mount (DO-1-DR). By default, the DO-1 ships with a USB 2.0 Type-A / USB 2.0 Micro-B Cable, an antenna dust cap, a two USB Type-A dust caps, and 2-pole and 3-pole connectors with screw terminals.
Altech markets DO-1 as a DIY configuration solution that does not require any programming knowledge. The web interface enables the creation and configuration of custom dashboards to visualize data and individual alert or event settings with email notifications. The data is stored in the internal storage and/or a microSD card, and users can export it to Excel or CSV files.

The DO-1 Modbus monitor is suitable for energy monitoring in commercial buildings, machine condition monitoring, server room and data center supervision, liquid level monitoring in tanks and reservoirs, and more.
Altech says the DO-1 universal monitor for Modbus is offered at a price point suitable for small- and medium-sized companies, and I could find it on RS Components for $1,184.50. Additional information may be found on the product page, where you’ll also find links to a datasheet and a user manual.
