Shelly Group has just launched its Gen4 multi-protocol smart switch family supporting Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Matter protocols for the Smart Home.
The company specifically introduced five new products: the Shelly 1 Gen4 one-channel, dry contact smart switch, the Shelly 1PM Gen4 smart switch with power monitoring, Shelly 1 Mini Gen4 compact smart switch for lights and small appliances, the Shelly 1PM Mini Gen4 compact smart switch with power metering, and the upcoming Shelly EM Mini Gen4 energy meter. Let’s have a quick at each product.

It’s small enough to fit in your wall behind a switch.
Besides controlling lights, it can be used with appliances, garage doors, water valves, and so on.
Shelly 1PM Gen4
The Shelly 1PM Gen4 is very similar except it’s not a dry switch, its shell is red, and it implements a power monitoring function with a voltmeter (AC) and ammeter (AC).
It only takes two power supply options: 110-240 V AC or 24-30 V DC, meaning there’s no 12V power input.

It’s best suited for appliances where you may want to know the power consumption, and potentially make adjustments down the line.
Shelly 1 Mini Gen4
Like all other products from the new family, the Shelly 1 Mini Gen4 is based on the ESP-Shelly-C68F but offered in a smaller package with the following highlights
- Max Load
- 240V AC/8A (2000 Watts)
- 30V DC/5A (150 Watts)
- Power Supply – 110-240V @ 50/60Hz
- Dimensions – 34 x 29 x 16mm
- Weight – 19 grams
The compact smart switch can be used to control lights, appliances, door locks, doorbells, and fans.
Shelly 1PM Mini Gen4
The Shelly 1PM Mini Gen4 is very similar, but its casing is red, it implements power consumption monitoring and only supports AC loads up to 240V/8A (2000W), and is not suitable for DC loads. It is suitable for the same devices as the 1 Mini, namely lights, appliances, door locks, doorbells, fans, and similar devices.
Shelly EM Mini Gen4
The last model is not designed to be connected behind a switch, but rather an outlet with the Shelly EM Mini Gen4 designed for power monitoring of AC appliances up to 3840 Watts (240V @ 16 A). There’s no relay inside, and it’s only designed as a multi-protocol, wireless power meter, although the company also mentions it works as a Wi-Fi and Zigbee range extender & Bluetooth gateway.
Software support
The firmware supports up to 20 schedules, up to 20 Webhooks (URL actions) with 5 URLs per hook, scripting, HTTPS, and the MQTT protocol, as well as KNXnet / IP communication. No hub is required, and users can control the Shelly Gen4 devices through the Shelly Smart Control app available for Android, iOS, and Huawei smartphones. There’s also the Shelly Cloud to control the devices from a web browser running on a PC, a tablet, or a laptop. You’ll find more details on the Shelly app product page.
Availability and Pricing
All four Gen4 smart switches are available now on the Shelly store for respectively 18.50 Euros (Shelly 1), 21.00 Euros (Shelly 1PM), 15.50 Euros (Shelly 1 Mini), and 17.50 Euros (Shelly 1PM Mini). The Shelly EM Mini Gen4 is also listed for 16.50 Euros but is marked as “out of stock” because it has not been launched just yet.
