Developed by Rootkit Labs in Switzerland, the Flipper Blackhat is an open-source Allwinner A33-based Flipper Zero dual-band Wi-Fi card running Linux and designed for penetration testing, cybersecurity research, and wireless network analysis.
Built around an Allwinner A33 quad-core 1.5GHz processor, it comes with 1GB RAM, and an onboard 2.4GHz WiFi radio (RTL8723DS), with additional connectivity via two USB-A ports and one USB-C (FTDI-connected). The package also includes a 5GHz USB WiFi dongle (RTL8821CU) and a WiFi antenna for the built-in radio but requires an SD card and Flipper device separately.

In terms of software, the Flipper Zero dual-band Wi-Fi card runs a custom Linux distribution optimized for security testing and penetration testing. It supports standard Linux networking tools and drivers, with built-in support for the Realtek RTL8723DS 2.4GHz Wi-Fi module and the optional RTL8821CU 5GHz dongle. At the time of writing the software is in beta, with ongoing updates for stability and feature improvements. Walker mentions that the device is in the beta stage and there could be various software bugs, but he assures that he has checked the hardware thoroughly and there are no hardware bugs. The device is available on the rootkitlabs store page where it costs around 69 Swiss Francs, or around $78.00 US. But at the time of writing it’s out of stock.
There are plenty of other Flipper Zero add-on boards including the FlipMods Combo 3-in-1 expansion module with ESP32, GPS, and CC1101 modules, the Mayhem v2 expansion for Flipper Zero which adds Wi-Fi, BLE, camera, microSD card slot, and NRF24 or CC1101 radio support, and Electronic Cats’ Flipper Add-On CANBus with a CAN bus interface. The Flipper Blackhat is the first such add-on we’ve seen that adds 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi to the Flipper Zero.
