This Wi-Fi 6 cellular router runs a fork of OpenWrt 19.07 and supports various modes of operations including routing, AP, wireless bridge, and wired bridge. The router also includes features like VPN support, firewall settings, QoS management, and remote access options for easy configuration and control. The company also mentions that you have the option to get a physical eSIM which allows users to store up to 8 eSIM profiles. A physical eSIM is a removable SIM card that works like an embedded eSIM but offers more flexibility.
The GL-X2000 package includes everything needed to set up the router, including the device itself, a power adapter, two Wi-Fi antennas, two 4G LTE antennas, an Ethernet cable, a user manual, a warranty card, and a wall bracket for mounting.
It looks like an alternative to the company’s Spitz AX router available with 4G LTE or 5G connectivity and based on MediaTek Filogic 820 SoC running an OpenWrt 21.02 fork. We have reviewed GL.iNet Spitz AX (GL-X3000NR) router with 2.5GbE, WiFi 6, and 5G NR cellular connectivity, and you can read the review to get a better of the user interfaces, but performance might be quite different due to the different SoC and board. We won’t be able to review the Spitz Plus due to more stringent enforcement of Thai regulations.
The GL-X2000 Wi-Fi 6 cellular router is priced at $239.90 for North America and $229.90 for EU, UK, and AU regions. At the time of writing, there is a limited-time discount of 23% going on which brings the prices down to $185.90 and $175.90, making it a more affordable option for users. For reference, the Spitz AX 5G model sells for $369 on Amazon due to the more expensive 5G licenses. More information about the router can be found on the product page.
