It’s not quite the first 3.5-inch SBC based on Intel Amston Lake processors, and we covered the ASROCK’s SBC-262M-WT (Atom x7433RE), ASUS’ X7433RE-IM-A, and AAEON’s GENE-ASL6 (x7213RE, x7433RE, or x7835RE) each with their own specific features. The IB839 is the first 3.5-inch SBC we’ve seen with an Intel Atom x7211RE SoC, but the dual-core processors is found in SBCs with other form factors in products like Portwell’s NANO-6064-ASL (Nano-ITX) or Kontron’s 2.5”-SBC-AML/ADN (Pico-ITX).

IBASE did not provide availability and pricing information for the IB839, but you’ll find more details may be found on the product page and in the press release. Note that one distributor (Fortec Integrated) has the IB839 listed on their website, but the specifications are a bit different…

“Dimensions – 147 x 102mm (3.5-inch form factor)” … so that’s a certain standard?

3.5-inch” makes me thinkg of those ‘floppies’ … In 1981, Sony introduced their 3+1⁄2-inch floppy disk cartridge (90.0 mm × 94.0 mm). That’s closer to 3.5 inch =88.9 mm

… why are those SBC called “3.5-inch form factor”
