GGBEE RMW002 WiFi AC smart switch supports Alexa, Google Assistant, and Cozy Life app

The GGBEE RMW002 is a mini WiFi AC smart switch designed to make your appliances smarter. It supports a voltage range of 100-240V AC and a maximum current of 16A/20A. With built-in WiFi, the switch connects to the Cozy Life app for easy remote control of your appliances. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant allowing for hands-free operation. Additional features include group control, countdown timers, and dual-control wiring options.

The device has very similar from-factor and features to that of a SONOFF ZBMINIR2 or  SONOFF MINI Extreme (MINIR4M) but there are significant price differences if you are comparing the RMW002  to any SONOFF devices since the GGBEE switch is quite cheaper.

GBEE mini wi fi smart switch placement

The company mentions that the product is CE certified, but they don’t mention safety certifications like TUV, UL, or ETL, so depending on where you live it may not be a good idea to install this device in your house. The device is compatible with the Cozy Life app on both Android (version 4.1 or higher) and iOS, but you’ll find plenty of mixed-user reviews.

Blakadder website mentions the RMW002 does not support Tasmota/ESPHome, except if users replace the wireless module with an ESP-02S module. The wireless switch is also mentioned in SonoffLAN project to control Sonoff Devices with eWeLink (original) firmware over LAN and/or Cloud from Home Assistant module, and the RMW002 appears to be supported here, but you need the right Sonoff.yaml file to get full support.

GBEE mini wi fi smart switch wiring methode

The device is very compact and can be directly installed in your existing wall outlet. Other than that you don’t require any hub or hectic configuration to get started with this device. You have two wiring options for this wireless smart switch. You can connect it directly to the light fixture for basic smart control via app or voice commands. Alternatively, you can connect it to both the light fixture and a traditional rocker switch to control the light with either the smart switch or the rocker switch for added flexibility.

Other than that, not much information about the product is available, like what type of wireless module they used or any internal circuitry of the product. The AliExpress listing tells that it’s a product from GGBEE but after searching for it on Google and on Chinese search engines like Baidu, Sogou, and Youdao I could not find much information about the product. But what I found is a YouTube video reviewing a similar product.

The GBEE RMW002 WiFi AC Smart Switch is available on AliExpress for as low as $0.99 as part of a welcome deal. But we know from our previous experience that most people won’t be able to get it at this price, and the actual price should be $4 to $5 depending on the version selected. You can check out the angry comments of people complaining about the price in our earlier post!

This is just one of these cheap Tuya wifi relays plentifully available for dirt cheap on Aliexpress. Aside from the BL602 SoC (most other units use a BK7231* SoC), there isn’t anything special here. On the upside they can easily be dissassembled to flash OpenBeken or ESPHome on them. On a side note, These are cheaply made and I doubt the screw terminals or PCB traces could handle the claimed 16A current load. And with so-so PCB design, I would be worried of arcing leaking mains voltage onto the control portion of the electronics. Here are a few threads for… Read more »
