Taoglas AntJack is an RJ45 jack-mounted Wi-Fi antenna for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 6/6E, and Wi-Fi 7

Dublin-based Taoglas has unveiled the AntJack described as “an industry-first Wi-Fi antenna for an RJ45 Jack”. The AntJack, also known as the FXM100, can be mounted on any standard RJ45 Ethernet connector to create a 2-in-1 solution that saves space and enhances wireless performance across 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz, and 7.1 GHz frequency bands.

It is a compact (26.6 x 15.6 x 13.1 mm), omnidirectional dipole antenna with support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 6/6E, and Wi-Fi 7. It can be used in various applications, such as modems and routers, industrial gateways, factory automation, industrial robotics, and test and measurement systems. The AntJack is especially well-suited for embedded applications with space constraints and positioning challenges such as 4 x 4 or 8 x 8 MIMO configurations.

It features an easy “peel and stick” design manufactured from flexible PCB material with adhesive conductive foam, allowing straightforward installation on RJ45 connectors.

According to Oliver Robin, Taoglas’ Chief Operating Officer, “The FXM100 Wi-Fi antenna is a great example of our focus on innovation and solving tough customer challenges, like designing antennas for metal surfaces and awkward layouts. Our antennas give customers better performance with more flexibility, making it easier to add wireless technology to their devices.”

AntJack Wi-Fi Antenna specifications:

  • Antenna connector type – I-PEX MHFI
  • Cable – 60mm 1.37 coaxial
  • Wi-Fi bands – 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz, 7.125 GHz
  • Frequency range – 2400-2500/4900-7125MHz
  • Dimensions – 26.6 x 15.6 x 13.1 mm
  • Weight – 2g
  • Temperature Range – -40°C to 85°C
  • Relative Humidity – 95%RH for 96 hours (65°C)

Interested buyers will find the FXM100 Wi-Fi antenna available from Taoglas and its distributors. The antenna is sold as a standalone product but can be purchased with Taoglas’ magnetic connectors and Ethernet cables for “optimized bill of materials (BOM) costs.” Also, the Wi-Fi antenna can be customized on request to fit any size of RJ45 jack, either 1×2, 2×2, or MxN.

More details, including pricing information, are available on the FXM100 product page. The company is also showcasing the new AntJack antenna and other products from its portfolio at Embedded World North America 2024 in Austin until October 10.

This is interesting for metal encased devices but that’s all as there is no way this performs as well as other PCB based antennas due to the size.

I would love to see the antenna layout How did they get tri-band in that form factor with decent reception?

Thank you, a maximum of +4 dB gain is unbelievable as in I don’t believe it.

Their testing is flawed and misleading due to the setup, the whole point of this antenna is to be used inside a metal case yet they test it in open air.

Contrary to “pricing information, are available on the FXM100 product page” there is only a “request a quote” option to get a price. Assuming therefore this product is not going to be available for qty=1 purchases 🙁

The link was to the press release, but I’ve just changed that to the actual product page where users can click the “Buy Now” button. Taoglas is selling samples for $12.65 before taxes and shipping.
